Right now, I'm matching my Patreon tiers, Twitch sub tiers, but with a bonus 2/mo option only available on the forums. I'm wondering if that's the best thing to do, or if I should have separate tiers/plans on the site without the same perks as Patreon/Twitch subs?

What's the method you all prefer? I want a cheaper option that's affordable for more people, but also some higher tiers that give some perks off-site, like access to private community game-servers (once we have the subs to be able to rent one).

I have monthly and yearly options available at the moment, with a bit of a discount on yearly, and the name matches my other platforms as well:

I think you're on the right track, particularly with your ambitions to include off-site perks, so it'd be best to keep the prices steady across the board. Certainly no harm in consistency 🙂

When I get to the point where adsense makes, well, sense, I'd probably throw in ad-free into the 2/mo tier since it'd only apply to the website.

We have had a few servers before, but I had a job at the time, and haven't in over 14 months, so I've had to cancel all of them, unfortunately, for the time being.

No shame in that whatsoever, I'm in a similar position, financially can't do much of anything, and that's fine, we make do with what we have and push on 🙂.

I do agree on adsense, when you're in a more sustainable position, knock that off for the $2 tier, that'll be a nice entry-level benefit.

Yeppers, and can encourage helping out just a little bit. If lots of people were to get the 2/mo tier, it wouldn't be much per person, but overall it would help manage costs, I totalled almost 400/yr if I renewed XF, all crucial addons, and the shared hosting. Would go up once we grow enough for a VPS.

Oh absolutely, the drops in the bucket add up to a full bucket in time, and you're right, the cost of running a site these days isn't getting any cheaper. It's an expensive passion project, but a worthwhile one 🙂

I think what you are offering is very fair and represents good value and as the site grows in popularity you'll be able to increase these prices.

Yea, I'd likely disable new subs and let current keep it as a grandfathered pricing, with creating a new plan when it gets to that point.

I've thought of similar methods, if I were to start up another project. Even if it's a small contribution each month but just a way for members to say "thank you" for something they enjoy having around.

I have not implemented subscription on my forums but I plan to do it. However, before I introduce subscription plans I also need to figure out what value I should be giving to the subscribers

Ad-free seems to be a good one for most tiers or subs. Yes, a lot of people can use adblockers, but its not as easy to block ads on smartphones, there are ways, but most people don't go out of their way to find those methods on phones.

Another good one could be extended storage space on media galleries, or "unlimited" with limited storage on free, to help manage those storage costs.

I think it’s a fantastic idea to introduce a special tier on the forums that works well with your Patreon and Twitch offerings. Think about setting up different tiers to appeal to various groups of people, making sure each one has its own unique perks to really enhance the value. By finding a good balance between keeping things affordable and offering exclusive benefits, you’ll be able to draw in a wider audience and keep everyone engaged across all your platforms.

Good prices, have you got anyone joined up yet?

that#s the hardest part to get people willing to join and singup

I have seen a lot of forums offering add free browsing for paid subscribers. I think is can be an attractive option for users who do not like ads on the forums. Unlimited storage can be a good option but unlike on social media, I do not see a lot of people interested in sharing media on forums.
