It's legal in my home state of Tennessee. Anyway, this strange fact makes me think of the many years law enforcement spent fighting it. OK, what is legal and strange in your area? Should these extreme drinks be illegal?

Well, moonshine is a clear, high-proof whiskey that is legal in most places I think. The term is also used to refer to illicitly produced liquor though, which is mostly illegal because it was produced without a license, and thus could be dangerous.

I’ve never had any myself. I should probably give it a try sometime though.

It sounds like Moonshine has different meanings. What do you mean by high-proof though?

Proof: A measure of alcoholic content, where 100 proof is 50% alcohol, and 200 proof is 100% alcohol

High proof: a drink with an alcoholic content greater than about 100 proof.

How can you have greater than 100% alcohol? If you have a liquid container that contains 100% alcohol, it's pure alcohol. You can't have more alcohol than liquid in the container.

My brain hurts. 🙁

Greater than 100 proof means greater than 50% alcohol

Ah, I completely missed that part. Now, it makes sense. xD

Should I go try some moonshine now? :wtf:
