I feel as if I need more subcategories, does anyone have any suggestions? And where would you put them?
I'd really like to make this new forum grow, I think this is part of the answer. 🙂

I think you have enough categories, but, to be honest with you: Get rid of that stupid Site Credit Store. Site "credits" on a camping forum? No. Just no.

Do you think they should be renamed? I'd like to keep them, just simply as a way for users to gain more privileges as they are more active on the forum. I feel like it's some sort of incentive?

Do you have any other ideas for incentives to replace this then?
Thanks for the feedback. 🙂

Looking over your forum, it seems like you have enough forums & categories.

Having too many can overwhelm your members. It'll make them feel lost & as if they don't know where to start.

Cool, I was just making sure. 🙂
Thanks for looking it over.

If anything, you might have too many subcategories as the posts seem to be pretty spread out between them so, that could give the impression of inactivity.

Another thing I noticed is that users seem to have awfully large number of points in proportion to their post count.

It could do with some sort of text or other logo over the header image at the top as it's currently just a picture of a forest.

Personally I don't think you need more. At the moment you need to give content to the sections you have first, to keep discussions and activities going on. You have 50 members but only almost 200 posts, that is quite a question.

As theezy said, new forums better start of small and focused. You can do this by merging some categories as they make your forum looks too big and empty. For example, 1st and 2nd category can be merged, "General" forums can be merged and put under another category for general discussion, and so on. Focus is important; don't stray too far from what your niche is.

You could add a logo instead of that text. Something extra to be added in that header would be good. The icons should be changed to suit the genre. Maybe some khaki or camo background could be an idea worth considering.

I was just thinking the same thing... maybe like some black and white tent outlines?

Thanks to everyone for the feedback. 🙂

I think the worst thing you can do is too many categories. It makes the forum seem empty and inactive if some of those topics are vacant. Once you start to see a demand for a certain topic, then add it.

You have enough categories, you don't need too many anyway. Good idea with the header image, maybe something more light would work. and a nice design of a camper might also help. Can't understand why you removed the myBB link in the footer. If all people removed the link to the developer, there would be NO ONE to support the script and help you out. The developers need this promotion and I can't see why you'd choose not to give them credit for this great free script you're using 😉
