What's the most expensive vacation you've ever taken?

I think for me it was a cruise we went on with friends. We flew out to Florida and stayed the night in a hotel before embarking on the ship. It wasn't a very long cruise but we still had a great time and I got a mini cruise ship for a Christmas ornament.

So far it was our last beach vacation we went on last month. It was the first time living in another state than family so it included the same costs on top of a plane ticket versus just driving in a car. Doesn't help that we also blew our $1k cash for food in the first 3 days of being there and kept eating out 😂 I try to money manage, but it never works.

I did a trip a couple years back that included a week in Syria, which required a personal guide in order to get the visa. Was definitely worth it, but was much more pricey than my usual style of travel.

Glad you were with a guide because of the war there. I had students that had fled the country to the US and they were fearful of what was happening to the family they left behind.

More or less, yeah. I felt a bit uneasy on my first day down in Bosra, which at the time was almost a complete ghost town apart from the reconciled rebels who manned the checkpoints. But that passed as soon as I got to Damascus, and I really fell in love with the city. Aleppo felt quite safe, even though it was quite close to the conflict zone at the time. I do hope to visit again once a lasting peace is achieved.
