What have been the most valuable things you've learnt about forum/website management from your experiences here at Forum Promotion?
Here's a couple off the top of my head:
- Exchanges and packages are a great way to boost activity during lull periods, but they can't be your only source of activity
- You'll almost never get an active member through exchanges (though you might on very rare occasions and that's pretty cool, just don't count on it happening)
- Thread exchanges / packages are usually more valuable than replies because they can generate responses out of your userbase for an indefinite time (or definite if you have it so you can't reply to old threads), whereas replies will eventually get buried and lost under others.
- If exchangers can post in "Last Thing You X" or "Chat" threads, they usually will. 😕
- When I first joined here, I didn't even know that self-hosting was a thing, and that I do that I can set up/manage a server and do all that funky, pro-IT stuff. 😎
That's about all I can think of right now.
How about you?
