Hey guys 🙂

How much is the most amount of money you have paid for a forum? I mean a full forum like FP 🙂

I've bought two or three forums in the past. $250 is the most I've paid for a forum.

I've honestly never purchased a forum or website from anyone. It's just never been an option for me, and I prefer to build communities from scratch.

Plus, I don't have much money anyway...

I've never bought a forum. 😛 Most forums around the size, SEO score, and financial earnings of FP will run you somewhere around $15,000 - $20,000 most of the time. Sometimes you can buy them for more, sometimes for less, depending on the seller. 😛

Ahah! That's loads of money! That's like a years earning for some people, it's the price of a car! Wow 😛

Once a few years ago, I bought a forum that made around $2,000 Monthly from Donations, Ad's, etc.

Cost'ed me $450, Came with decent sized member base, etc.

I have never purchased a forum from anyone. 😛

I've spent 20 dollars on a forum before. Wasn't worth it.

I've never purchased another forum before and I think this is because I'm a huge fan of building my own products.

I've purchased forums that got merged into mine. Yes.

Me too. I don't think I would ever buy someone else's forum. It's not as fun as building one from scratch and calling it your own.

However building a forum from scratch takes a lot of effort and time and buying an established forum means that you are more likely to be able to earn money from it.

Some people could care less about the money though and just run forums as a hobby. When you start loading your forum with ads members become discouraged and realize all you care about is the money. I really dont like when owners are so money hungry.

I've never actually purchased a forum, although it would be a good opportunity to take over from an already established (and hopefully active/successful) community. I would have some sort of budget, £50 at the most. I know it's better to start and manage your own forum, but it can be very difficult to get it off the ground and keep members interested, general advertising, amongst other things.

So many times you hear "I didn't build this forum to earn money from it." A year down the line and its either making loads of money or being sold.

Everyone has a price. If you had a forum with 250,000 posts for example and someone offered you a sum of money much more than the forum is worth, I guarantee the majority would sell. There is no such thing as owning a forum as a hobby. Everyone starts out like that, but it never ends like that.

If you can name an established and highly active forum (over 500,000 posts) which doesn't make money one way or another, I rest my case.

On topic, never bought a forum although I see no problem buying a good community to save it going offline.
