If you're not a mother yet, are you planning on becoming a mother before your 21st birthday?

I was a mother at the age of 17...............it seems so long ago 🙁

I am a mother already but I got married when I was 21 and I born my first child when I was 22. I got married after my graduation but my husband and I plan this well because I am a teacher and it will be difficult to get married if I am teaching. I am now 29 and I am teaching in high school when I'm at home I teach my 7 year old daughter.

let me focus in your question, in my own opinion to have a child before 21 is not good because it is too early and not yet finish schooling. But if you got pregnant before 21 you have to stand firm with your unborn child and be responsible and try to care of your child with all your heart.

I can't wait to become a mother. 🙂 I plan to become one as soon as humanly possible, but I'm sure it won't be before my twenty-first birthday. 🙁

My mother was 14 years old when she gave birth to me 41 years ago.

:O Wow! Are you a parent? If so, how old were you? :O

Yes, I am a proud father of two boys. I was 31 years old when my first child was born. 🙂

@ Black Angel, hold on to your freedom as long as possible. When you trade it away make sure you trade it for something or someone of equal or greater value. The older you are when starting a family increase your chances of being a better parent than those who started a family in their teens. Believe me, I love my late mother dearly, however, I suffered from her mistakes due to youth and lack of wisdom.

I don't think many people realize that if you get pregnant at a young age, that once you start showing..your teenage years are over.
I personally think that it isn't 'right' for a teenager (someone under 18) to have a child - they are still a child themselves, and most likely are not mature enough to take care of themselves and the child. If they can even support themselves and the child at the time..

I'm not sure that it's not "right", but I agree that you only get to be young yourself for so long and for most people, having a child takes away that free time. I think pretty much everyone that has a child young would never give their child back, but I do hear quite a few people saying "I want him, and I wouldn't trade him for the world... but I wish he could have came just a bit later".

As I stated before, my mother gave birth to me at 14. I'm sure if she could go back in time and make some changes it would be modifying teen motherhood to late 20s motherhood. Anyway, I am greatful that my mother didn't give me up for adoption or leave me in a garbage can. That's what I will always love my mother for despite her shortcomings and short life on earth. May she rest in peace.

I had my first child at 25. I think it was a good age. I had a good job, a good partner and our own house.

I know some absolutely awesome parents who had their first child at 17/18 and they would put some parents to shame with how hard they work at providing a good stable life for their child.

However I know that I personally am glad that I waited as I had a fun time in my late teen / early 20's so don't feel like I missed out. I was ready to settle down by the time I had a child.
