How do you get motivation to continue with your forum, site, blog when you just feel that drudgery?
I think we’ve all have at one point or another. Especially when we get frustrated or down because we are stuck learning something, when we don’t have enough help & support. Whenever that happens, I take a step back & re-prioritize. Do I want to continue truly? If so, I’ll think of ways to help myself. If it’s becoming a drudgery & my heart just isn’t in it like it used to be, I’ll stop & move on.
What helps you keep motivated?

Like all things in life, it's possible to overdo it when it comes to forums. If you're finding it becoming a struggle to keep it going, take time away form it. Give yourself a break, refresh and come back with a fresh outlook. Constantly pushing forward with something that frustrates you keeps you in that frustrated mindset. Getting away, taking a break and coming back with a fresh perspective might give you the key you need to push forward. If it's something you can't figure out, ask for help. There are resources out there and no one should feel bad about asking for help.

Sometimes you don't have that motivation, and it's okay to take a step back and do a wellness check with yourself. We're in this hobby to enjoy it, and there's no sense in draining yourself just to continue. We all have so many challenges in our lives outside of the web. If this is your hobby, it is meant to be a getaway from all that.

I have taken a few breaks over the years even this past summer however I like to tinker and build them so I keep doing it, I enjoy the small group I chat to online which keeps me coming back.

As said above this gives me and others a break from real life and a place to relax (and post a meme) 😀

With Christianity Haven, sometimes when I step back I find that things go on as normal and the site does well. Every now and again we'll get a prolific poster who makes the community thrive! I have found that if I'm there too much that the normal members don't post as often. I guess that's the bad thing about having Admin attached to my name 🙁

On Crafter Craze, I lost some of the posters that were coming around on occasion and I miss seeing their work. I'm out of ideas on how to make it be more successful (without spending money of course!) so I'll just carry on and use it as my own personal idea site and place where I can post my crafts in case others want the free patterns.

On here, it's not my site but I do get burnt out from time to time. Having the forum get attacked actually brought me back sooner from my LOA because I get very protective of things I love. You don't mess with a pre-menopausal woman 😉 (tmi, I know).

The unfortunate reality of running any forum is that it lives or dies by the Admin. The more they post or interact, the more interactive the members will be, as they feel the forum is cared for and there is someone there they can chat with and relate to. It can cause a lot of burnout, but that's what makes the forum game so hard, especially now that forums are declining so much.

Good, perseverance is key. It might not have huge traffic just now, but you will find the right audience if you stick to it. Even if it just remains a small, niche forum, that can be enjoyable!

Have to love the things you do as a hobby, no doubt about it 🙂

Running a forum or a blog is never easy and with it comes down days and days when you feel like your forum or blog is dying and that is a horrible feeling to have. I myself have been there many times and as much as it's not a nice place to be in, there are always ways to be able to get things moving again, especially with a forum. I think about why I started the forum or the blog in question and what I wanted to achieve. Something like with a forum, I want to be able to achieve a community of great people who all love hanging out, knowing that I can do that with work and dedication helps keep me motivated.

Money is my main motivation source. My two forums make money for me, therefore, I am motivated to work on these forums. However, my two forums do not make money for me, so I don't even feel like working.

Just seeing the daily logins and posts keep me motivated to continue growing the site and it's easy to be motivated for something you have a passion for.

Many of the websites are not making any money now, so I am trying to sell the domains, to avoid wasting my savings paying the business expenses

What helps you keep motivated?

Motivation requires integration of discipline and and desire. You have to discipline yourself to be motivated. But motivation requires desire otherwise why be motivated in the first place?

For the past 70+ days, I've posted a blog every single day on two blogs. I'm motivated to be a daily blogger. I've decided I might stop at 100 and reduce the amount to 3 days a week for each. Going from 7 blogs a week to 3 should be simple. Motivation got me there but it took discipline and desire.

The same goes with a forum. Discipline yourself to stay motivated by having a clear desire to do something with your community.

Have a vision for it and focus on that vision.
