Hello,
I have a computer & laptop at my place
My computer is using cable

My laptop uses wireless & it has no wireless connection atm.

I need an very important file from my laptop, i was wondering how can i transfer it over. I though of USB, but dont got none, I also though of router where you plug in the cable line to the laptop but i dont got no router line.

Any ideas?

You may not be able to if you have no internet with that Laptop, teh easiest way is to get a USB flash drive.

Yeah... the best way I can think of to transfer data is to use a memory stick.

Get a external hard drive. Much more worth it in the long run if you have to do it again. Saves you time since 1 round of a USB drive probably won't cut it.

I've purchase on ebay an
128 MB flash drive

Awaitting for it's delivery ^_^
you think 128 MB is enough in usual?

The file that needs to be transfer is around 1-2MB & most big file & nearly the biggest i've seen is like 10-60mb

You will start using it a lot and the one I have is 4 Gigs.

I usually use the network to connect between pcs in my router's network.

But, an external HD is always nice to have.

How much space you use often to transfer?

How big are the files? If you're moving a whole drive then a 128 MB won't be enough. If its about 10 files (not games) then it should be ok.

I've got a 16GB USB stick for backups. You should always have one and in case you need it for simple transfers 🙂

128mb is like an ancient USB

Anyway small 2mb files will be easily transferable with your ancient USB, although it may take a while.

Sometimes I transfer movies and such and one movie can be about 700mb up to like 5gb sometimes depending on quality. But bigger flash drive you got, easier transferring will be.

Just go for the cheaper one, both do the same thing with the only difference being the label/name.

Couldn't you just burn your files on a DVD-r or CD-R since you only need to copy is a few MB?

yea i was thniking about it
i also tried using a cd
all of them ssays "cd can't be written"

Maybe you can try a different brand of CD. I recommend Verbatim, Maxell, Fuji. You can also try a different burning software like CDBurnerXP which is free at http://cdburnerxp.se/
or you can find a friend with an external CD-ROM

You can upload your Files to Mozy.com . They give you 2GB free and you can download it to your new PC with the internet.

http://mozy.com/home/free

If you have two MSN accounts you can login to one on your old PC and another MSN account on your new PC and send it through MSN.

Hey froggy

the first link you provid of the burning software. Does it burn cd that aren't writtenable?

Im using like "movie espicode dvd" & "music dvd" to put the file in, but none are writteable, so i was wondering if there was a software that makes the cd writtenable & gives space.

I think it is not possible to burn non-writtable CDs. You can only burn CD-R, CD-RW, DVD-R, and DVD-RW since writteable CDs use a special kind of dye to record files on to.

It can burn CD-R and CD-RW, DVD-R and DVD-RW. You can save the project file and configure CDburnerxp to use the CD multiple times till it fills the 700MB or 4.4 GB for DVD.

Ohs
Because im trying to put the files in the disc such as the "stamps.com" disc, "grand money" "epesicode movies" & yeah it wouldn't let me write them.

I'm not sure what type of cd are they but just not writtable. Well is there an software that changes a cd that cant be writtable to writtable.

Cos either way if the cd has max its space, i can at least delete the file but its non writtable so i cant even control it by deleting any files.
