I have been with Forumotion for years and although I LOVE how simple it is, it is very limiting and you know how that saying goes. " When I was a child I thought childish thoughts.." Anyway, with forumotion I experienced a series of hacks and spam and hack scares ( surprise surprise), and my guard was always up. However, when I attempted to branch away from it by using phpbb, I failed epically in trying to install a simple chat mod and cried due to how complicated initialization was.

My goal for my site is an advertisement forum similar to this one. I would also like some way to have the automatic cash system like this site has and still have security.

Now, in the event that most of you tell me to stick with Phpbb could you give me a few pointers to help me out with modding.

Also I would like help with Domains and such. My friend told me that on godaddy, all he has to do is call the toll free hotline and his site is back and running, but it wouldn't hurt to get more than one opinion on it.

Well first thing is first; don't go annoyed about installing mods to your forum. You need to learn how to code before you start doing all that. Go and use phpBB3. If you can't/don't know how you will need to get a friend to install it for you and get some paid (or free like co.cc) hosting. Most people on here would do it for you for some FP Cash in return, although if you have to hosting set up I can do it for free.

Second, you then need to find someone again to help mod your forum and also put a new style on there if you wish. The thing is though you can't jump into modding when you don't know how to code, you'll end up taking something out or messing something up if you not familiar with the code your editing. Once your good with coding, try an easy mod with minimal edits. When I did my first mod it had a few edits to do and a few files that need including, not a big task, but with installing a cash mod, I imagine that would be quite difficult.

If you need anymore help, just ask.

Several softwares allow you to install mods with little to no manual editing. The software does it itself.
PhpBB is more difficult and time consuming when it comes to installing mods and doing updates. However, once you get comfortable doing it, its not so hard. Its still a pain though.
