MPAA Directly & Publicly Threatens Politicians Who Aren't

Re: MPAA Directly & Publicly Threatens Politicians Who Aren'

I'd say I hope something really bad happens to Chris Dodd but then I'd feel bad if it did. Actually no I wouldn't.

Re: MPAA Directly & Publicly Threatens Politicians Who Aren'

Frankly, I think the MPAA and the RIAA should be done away with. Or at least have the old guard kicked out and have those who actually KNOW what they are doing run it.

Re: MPAA Directly & Publicly Threatens Politicians Who Aren'

It's a sad day when corporations don't even hide the fact that they own Congress anymore.

Re: MPAA Directly & Publicly Threatens Politicians Who Aren'

You know what screw it. I've been buying dvds when I particularly enjoy movies and have been going to the movies quite a lot lately, but screw this. I'm not funding this anymore. Screw them, they finally found a way to hurt their sales from me.

Re: MPAA Directly & Publicly Threatens Politicians Who Aren'

It saddens me though. The MPAA claims that piracy hurts sales... well the funny thing is I always download a movie first. Like today I watched Django (1966). I liked it so much in fact that I was about to buy the bluray on Amazon as I'd love to have this in my collection. I'd feel bad about buying it now though. Don't get me wrong I'd still love to have it but this crap is the thing that hurts their sales.

Re: MPAA Directly & Publicly Threatens Politicians Who Aren'

A failing business model is what's hurting their sales. Their business model needs to adapt to the twenty-first century.

Re: MPAA Directly & Publicly Threatens Politicians Who Aren'

Agreed Snobo! And yeah Gim, that's why I like being able to have free sharing and or downloading ability. It helps me to know if I want to actually buy it. Or even share it with others who might like it enough to buy it.

That's just something they don't seem to get unfortunately.

There's still some room though, all they have to do is stop being so damn evil. Yes, some of their "business model" is bizarre. I mean I can't see myself ever paying for a media file, I mean what the hell. I assume I'm in the minority but I prefer having something physical. I won't pay for a download, but even if I already have a pirated copy of something freely available I will purchase a dvd/bluray/vhs/whatever. Of course not if they continue their garbage.

Ehh, I guess I'll just make a point to only buy used, at least that way I stay "legal" but don't make them any money - which ironically enough second hand actually loses them a sale in my case but piracy doesn't.

Re: MPAA Directly & Publicly Threatens Politicians Who Aren'

I do like having a hard copy of something. However, downloading is really convienent if you aren't able to get that hard copy at the time.

Re: MPAA Directly & Publicly Threatens Politicians Who Aren'

Sure, It's better not to wait. I mean let's say hypothetically I purchase a movie on amazon. While the dvd is getting shipped I would then pirate a copy and watch that, and then a few days later a nice addition to my collection would come. How is that not win-win?

Re: MPAA Directly & Publicly Threatens Politicians Who Aren'

Exactly, its win win for you. That and you'll know then if its really worth it. Sure you can always burn what you downloaded to a cd or dvd. But at times it also doesn't have that real hard copy feel.

Yeah. While I could technically go out and buy a DVD case, put in the box art and get the dvd sticker on the burned CD it still just masks it. I want the real deal 😛

Agreed!

More proof that money runs the government. Hell recently they stated they would not support obama''s reelection if he doesn't start supporting sopa and or pipa.

Re: MPAA Directly & Publicly Threatens Politicians Who Aren'

Good, we don't Obama re-elected either.

Though if it was Paul vs Obama, it's be nice because they won't support Obama and Paul doesn't take money from lobbyists. Checkmate.

I didn't mean to sound for obama. I was just using it as an example. I myself would go for Ron Paul. Hence why I really hope he wins the primaries.Otherwise I am voting for Roseanne Barr..

I remember the first round of those white house petitions where they basically just said "Thanks for sharing your opinion on this matter its cute but we don't give a sh*t."
