I have been thinking recently. Should I get an MSN account or not? I haven't needed one to be honest but I would like your opinions. Please give me your opinions on whether I should get a MSN account or not. If you think I should, then could you please explain why I should.

~Thanks,
James

When I first started here, MSN was big. I think Skype's replaced it though, at least it has for me.

We can't really answer that for you. Just think why you would possibly need an MSN account, how much you'd use it, and is it worth the time to make? Only you will really know if you should make one or not

MSN is slowly being replaced by skype. I used to be on msn all the time, now I only log in once every few days, where as I'm on skype all the time now instead. But there are still lots of people using MSN so I don't see why not if you're going to use it.

Well I understand that. I would use it, but I don't know the features or the benefits of having MSN at the moment as I haven't ever used it.

You can IM people.

It would be easier to have both MSN and Skype to be honest, that's what I have anyway and it doesn't hurt to have them both signed in at once. You get to speak to alot more people if you're online on both because alot of people may have one or the either so it's always good to keep up options up. 🙂

Well, I use Gmail for IM stuff as well. I recently lost my phone so I can't use my Skype 🙁

Download skype for computer. Much more functionality

Can't... I am using a school laptop so it isn't allowed and my personal laptop is getting fixed at the moment.

Do they actually check your activity?

No, they use a cool thing (not really) called iPrism. It locks the sites and blocks them so we cant access them. Only certain sites can be accessed. We can't even download software. It has to be added by the Tech Crew of the school and they don't like students to be honest.

That sounds horrid. We have a really terrible tech department, and a few of my group members and I have been able to gain access to the school's main server. We also control every computer on the network, and things like the internet.

So, adding skype isn't a difficult thing to do for us. 😛

It is for us... we have tried but a new software called Casper was added to the laptops. This allows them to record our activity on our screen so they can watch it. They can also remote into our laptops and look at it while we are working.

If I weren't afraid of getting you in trouble, I'd help you lol. If you need a temporary IM client, use MSN because it can be accessed through hotmail.

Ok, I can get into hotmail because my friend has that. But yeah, I hate that my school tech crew does that to us. I would use skype on my personal computer but after my date with my girlfriend, I come home to find soda has been dropped on my laptop. So it was broken so I have to get it fixed.

It's actually a good idea not to download MSN, as they are actually getting rid of MSN due to skype, since they are both made by the same company.

I remember thinking it was silly that people actually used Skype only a few years ago. Now look where we are. 😉

Yeah, I ended up getting a MSN account! Now I just need friends to add to it.
