One that comes to mind that has been said many times that they play to much GTA or duty of warfare and then they do it in real life. rippp... So sick those people are sick
Yes those things desensitize our children to violence, though prescription drugs are also to blame because their side effects can leave people in very dark moods and destroy their sense of empathy. When you combine anti-depressants and similar with violent games and lives that are going nowhere, it does result in many people behind seriously disturbed

Mass murderers in the US, particularly school shooters, rarely have ideologies beyond being insane... we shouldn’t turn our schools into prison by putting up metal detectors. Far more students at our schools die from things like the flu and car accidents than shootings. Hell more die from shootings off school property than on. This problem is hyped for political gain.Yes those things desensitize our children to violence, though prescription drugs are also to blame because their side effects can leave people in very dark moods and destroy their sense of empathy. Far right, Communist and Radical Islamic views see people are tools to get what they want - paper targets. That's not saying all of them would do bad things, but the base is there.

I agree that crap needs to be banned. We need traditional methods of mental help like a good diet, exercise (it lifts people out of depression), meditation, prayer.
However, schools need metal detectors and the like because schools, for various justified, unjustified reasons, won't logically be able to stop the negative forces causing school violence.

They could at least be a man about it and take on the high school ROTC (army class), at the least (being sarcastic).

Domestic terrorists, racial terrorists, mass shooters, serial killers, they're all in the same box. People who bring forth a reign of terror that lasts for a few hours, days, weeks, months or years. Video games, movies or media aren't responsible for creating these people. That may be the excuse they use at trial, but remember the insanity plea now comes with certain caveats because years ago, too many people were employing it just to avoid jail time or the death penalty. There are religious forces in America who see everything from the latest John Wick sequel, to marijuana (weed) as sinful, evil - and therefore a corrupting force upon the youth. That's insane but depending on what area of the country you live in, religious philosophies either call for being kind to your fellow man, or spending 23 hours a day at your local church. You can imagine which one the 'hollywood/gaming industry' blamer's come from.
True. It's the same nonsense the anti Harry Potter crowd tried to peddle also. I am not a fan of the HP film or book series, but the people trying to shut them down because it promotes 'witchcraft' have way too much time on their hands.
Figure out what drove them to the point they had to take people's lives and then work to fix that issue (or issues) so others don't go down the same path.
Just following the laws that exist already would have stopped at least 2 of the shootings in the recent history...
The shooter at the church in Sutherland Springs, Texas was convicted of domestic assault by an Air Force court and was thus banned from owning guns anyway. (In fact, had the government actually submitted the paperwork, he might not have gotten a gun.) The recent Parkland shooting could also have been prevented if the authorities had acted on knowledge they already had.
