How do I get my forum high on search engines like google, yahoo, etc?

Basically by posting your link on other sites. On other forums add your link in your signature.

Work. It's gonna take WORK, hun. XD More like a lifestyle than just a goal. I post on several other forums to advertise my site. On this forum is only a tiny slice. And I do this for hours a day. My page rank? Still only a 2 or a 3 {depending on what site you ask}. My site's age? 5 years.

Good luck 😛

Do as what above said, but Forum Advertising offer's a search engine submission service, I ay that would be a useful service.

No doubt they use a auto submission site to do their service. It is best to manually submit your site to search engines.

I've always lived by the natural submission myself... make a blog comment on a DoFollow PR6 blog and get indexed within 48 hours. It doesn't hit every search engine of course, but the main ones would surely be surfing higher PageRank sites.

I think it's really a matter of personal choice though, you have to find what you feel safe doing.

Anyone forgot on site optimization? Research your competition, get backlink analysis on your competitors to see how their links are constructed, if they are in any networks and how many they have. Then work from there.

I'm guessing you will want to rank for "Call of Duty" "CoD forum" etc.? You are going to need to boost your forum activity before doing anything with search engines (I'm speaking about the linked forum in your signature). You will need posts, activity and returning visitors. Once you have your community set, then you can worry about ranking in search engines. One step at a time 🙂

That thread contains some misleading information so I wouldn't really go with it.

If you're on phpBB, get phpBB SEO. If you're on MyBB, get MyBB SEO. If you're on IPB, get Minerva SEO. If you're on vBulletin and you can afford it, get vBSEO.

Those guys help quite a bit. Two way backlinks actually harm your PageRank and SERPs. SERPs are basically your rank in searches. Three-way link exchanges make it harder for Google to detect reciprocation, now that engines are smart enough to find two-way exchanges.

No they don't, I use two way linking on one of my sites and it doesn't get affected at all by the links. I even put two way links on my blog a while back and actually benefited from the higher PR blogs linking to mine.
