My thoughts exactly. I like the background, but you should find a more rounded looking clean text.

Good for startup. But here are some things which could make a good banner.

1) Try designing with as few colors as you can. Too much colors will spoil the design.
2) Use low shadow and glow. The more glow and shadow you have, the less professional your image will be.
3) As Jake and Flux said, try getting a font that looks smooth. The "0.79/month" text has a rough font which spoils the design, and the "Starting from" text has High bevel which makes the text less professional.

Download PSD's online, open them and view how it is designed, so that you can learn how to put things together, better.
