My Site Getting Hits By From Porn Sites! Xrumer Spamming My

My site - Gadget Goat
Is suffering from attacked my xrumer bots and scrapebox comments! Any idea how to solve this? How you guys tackle it?
One other strange thing i noticed is i am getting hits by some pron sites and i don't even have any link on them! Is it some kind of trick used my xrumer?

If you're talking about your blog, your problem is there's NO RECAPTCHA of ANY kind when posting a comment...you don't require the user to register or anything like that so i'm not surprised...

In your forum it is pretty bad too. I was just searching through the index and found a thread full of spam. I'm not sure how to help, but I would recommend deleting those posts.

Put spam captcha/other form of filter on in registration and you won't have the problem.

The best thing to do is add captcha on registration and add a timer between posts (15 seconds should be enough). Also, ban those bots and delete all topics made by them.

What forum software are you using?

Something else that will help is requiring new members to have made a certain number of posts before they can include a link or image in their posts.

On your forum (if it is version 3.0.6+) install this CAPTCHA plugin that can make your registration page different and harder for bots. Here we use this one - http://www.phpbb.com/customise/db/mod/s ... ha_plugin/

It is like an advanced question and answer mod. You can edit it to make it require javascript to be enabled which would stop the check box option if you have no javascript. Anti Spam ACP can also be helpful - http://lithiumstudios.org/forum/viewtop ... f=31&t=941

As for the blog, I don't really know much about stopping spammers on them apart from Akismet and forcing users to register to comment and then put some decent protection on the signup. That may reduce the number of comments though. You will always get some spam though, especially on blogs.

for your blog, ensure you have askimet enabled, and try installing Register Plus Redux & WP-reCAPTCHA and see if those will help you out.
