So ive had Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit for a little while now.

What are my overall impressions on it?

From a gamers point of view:
Awesome, it's great, one thing us gamers will benefit from Windows 7 is the Direct X 11, boy is it nice, but what about when we get annoyed with the pop-ups asking if we want to run this program, that program etc? It's really annoying, but I wont downgrade Windows 7 just for that as it has it's good points, it is sleek, stylish and very fast, infact, being an old XP user myself, never actually using Vista, Windows 7 is abit hard to navigate, I opened up paint today for some screenshots, boy was I confused, there are so many buttons 😀. But apart from it taking a little while to get used too, Windows 7 is GREAT for Gamers, it's everything we ever dreamed of, it's got great Graphics thanks to Direct X 11 etc, it's sleek and stylish (Check SS for details) and it's ultra fast, and definant must get for all hardcore gamers and/or Windows XP fans.

From a normal users point of view:
Windows 7 like mentioned above is extremely fast and stylish, it's the "next level" operating system and if I must say, probably the better out of all the OS'S on the market today. If your an ex Vista user swapping over to Windows 7, you will not go wrong, Windows 7 is pretty much a Vista remake just with different/more advanced features etc. When a user first looks at Windows 7, I bet they would be like "WOW", well that's how I was like anyway 🙂.

Which to get? 32bit or 64 bit?
Well currently I wanted to take advantage of my 4GB of ram and any future updates I want to add to my ram, so I decided to go with the 64-bit. Some of you might say, oh but 64 bit doesn't work with many games etc, I will say this to you, BULLSHIT, Windows 7 is running all of my games flawlessly even though im running 64 bit. The advantage in choosing Windows 7, well, you get both bits when you buy Windows 7, you get a 32 bit disk and a 64 bit disk, how good is that! So if you decide that the bit you installed is not right for you, NO PROBLEM, just use your alternative bit disk that came with your purchase and WALA, you've got the version you want.

I guess this wasn't a very detailed review, I just wanted to make a short "review" on what I think of Windows 7 at the moment.

My overall score for OS'S now are as follows:
Windows 95: 2/10
Windows 98: 3/10
Windows ME: 3.5/10
Windows XP: 7/10
Windows Vista: 5/10 (Based of what I experienced on friends computers etc.)
Windows 7: A whopping 9/10 because nothing is ever 10/10 as nothing is perfect 😀.

Hope you enjoyed my review/thoughts.

The stupid warning asking you to run something, there should be a little link in the 'Are you sure you want to run it' box where you can change/disable it.

Windows 7 also handles memory a lot better, caching stuff in unused memory.

Thanks ill try that now - see all new to Windows 7, totally skipped Windows Vista so never got these warnings 😀.

Windows 7 is yet to hit the stores. New Vista users only can upgrade to windows 7. It is not tried and tested like XP so i would rather slow down my thoughts on Windows7 :shake:

Windows 7 is already on sale here...

Thanks for the review Windows 7 looks good, but I probably get it when I get a new PC since the upgrade version is somewhat costly.

I like this Windows 7 commercial.

No problem, just make sure you all meet the requirements first, don't want to get your hopes up and then they go down the drain 😛.

My review of Windows 7 Home Premium

I upgraded to Windows 7 Home Premium 32 bit since I got 7 Upgrade for 39.99 with my Microsoft College Student discount all MS had to verify I was a student at a recognized college.

I was not planning to upgrade to Windows 7, but I got so fed up at MS Vista. I decided to just spend the 40 bucks and take a chance on a new OS that only been out for about a month. Best 40 bucks I ever spent on a piece of software! Plus, those Commercials on Spike TV convince me to upgrade to 7 since the features, and usability on 7 look so much better on people who use it on TV.

It was so simple to install. All I need to do is download the 7 installer, click the installer program, agree to MS Terms of service, pick upgrade, and wait for 7 to finish upgrading Vista to 7

Windows 7 is awesome. It now takes less then 50 seconds to start up Windows. I find 7 way more simple and enjoyable to use then Vista. All my programs I use on a daily basis with Vista work on Windows 7. 7 looks cleaner then Vista, and is a lot faster on my Computer which only has 1 GB of RAM. I no longer have to suffer from slow downs, crashes, and weird annoying bugs I have to deal with in Vista.

The Desktop preview feature on the startmenu bar is great.

Programs also seem to startup and run faster as well.

Windows 7 is everything that Windows Vista should of been from the beginning.

I notice multi-tasking is also better in Windows 7 as well.

I have

Sandboxie
Avant Browser moded version of Internet explorer
Foobar 2000 audio player
Google Chrome
Microsoft Word 2007
Firefox 3
Gimp 2.6
Virtual box running Windows XP PRO SP3 inside a window
Filezilla
TrueCrypt
SuperAntispyware
Screen hunter 5
Microsoft Security Essentials
Windows Aero theme

running on my PC with only a modest Intel Core2Dou 1.8 GHz, 1GB DDR2 RAM, 320 GB drive, and Intel onboard graphics.

If I was using Vista, my PC would of been very slow or frozen if I open so many programs.

If I knew 7 was this good, I would of made the switch on launch day! 😀

I'm going to get a Windows 7 laptop for Christmas!

or maybe get this for my Christmas

That burger looks kind of bloated. I think if burger king made a burger which is only 777 calories would be better marketing.

I agree 7 still been running great after about 1 and a half weeks of using it.

I've been using Windows 7 for about 2 months. It's lovely. Can't think of a single problem. It honestly took all the good things about XP and the things about Vista that were supposed to have been good and put them together. Sometimes I get a annoyed with the Control Panel and pinned things on the taskbar but it's honestly because I'm not quite used to them.
