Any of you looking forward to MyBB v2.0? Links: http://community.mybb.com/forum-166.html, http://blog.mybb.com/category/2-0-dev-posts/.

From the screenshots overall it looks like a modernization of the software and better mobile support since that's what everyones moving too. More simplification of things too like taking away buddy system, less options in UCP, etc. I like it so far but I don't think I'll be upgrading my forum for a while when it does come out.

I am looking forward to MyBB 2.0, but I will wait till I see more since I have not seen to much detail yet personally. As for the parts in bold.

#1 - What screenshots? I have looked at both links and have not seen any screenshots of MyBB 2.0 so I am unsure what you speak of.

#2 - Yes I agree that it should be more modernize and support mobile. It is pretty obvious that it will by looking at https://github.com/mybb/mybb2 which is linked to the blog post you linked. You can see 'bootstrap'. If they plan to use bootstrap it already has support for mobile. Bootstrap is very nice so I think that is a good move on their part.

#3 - I agree with taking away the buddy system, but instead of taking away I say more of change and improvement. Like having a follow system similar to Xenforo. As for fewer options in the UCP, I don't personally see why to take away since right now it seems pretty fine at least in my opinion. They should actually improve current features and add more.

I will be staying on the 1.8 release until Mybb ceases security updates as I'd like them to have time to work out any potential issues. I also have to make sure my plugins and themes are updated for it. However I can assure you at some point my forum will have updated.

Our forum moved to and from forum software:

phpBB > IPB (IPS) > XenForo > MyBB.

We are happy with them all, try demos for them all and decide.

It looks really nice, but not sure it'll make the jump into being modern like other softwares are currently (phpBB has a responsive theme now, Woltlab has the same, SMF's new version looks extremely sleek, etc.).

Only time will tell on how much better MyBB 2.0 is than the regular version of MyBB.

Just doing it step by step like this:
phpBB => IPB (IPS) => XenForo => MyBB

I feel like 2.0 has been in the works for awhile. Is there any mention of when this will be released?

The changes do look promising, definitely some needed upgrades in there.
