The primary reason why the price was high was because someone else owned the domain.

Oh... I found my reason from Godaddy... 😛

If I was the guy who owned mybb.com, I would create a forum out of it.

If Afbrakazu (made-up name) became an overnight success as a company but doesn't have a website, Afbrakazu.com would be worth quite a lot. However, if afbrakazu.com was still available, it's just $10 😛. Your reason was kind of right but it's more because it's used than anything.
