I have deleted 400 + threads today (_ _) No kidding. I am sick of all these spam comments. We have three plugins which are used to prevent spammers from registering including the popular "stopforumspam" plugin. But ...

We have implemented admin activation before.Because of that,we lost some valuable members. So we provide instant activation now.

http://onepieceforum.net

Our site is still new and I don't really understand how all these creepy spammers are finding their way in, into our forum

I am at my limit (_ _) So can somebody tell me what to do from here on in?

This plugin: http://www.mybbsecurity.net/topic-register-time-v-1-2-1

Always worked really well for me. It makes it so that if a bot tries registering under a set amount of time (shorter than a human could register), they're blocked. Give it a try! 🙂

Um we have such option in our normal settings like "Time Between Registrations
The amount of time (in hours) to disallow registrations for users who have already registered an account under the same ip address."

So.... >>
Do you have any other idea?

It's a completely different thing. The mod pandaa linked checks the time it takes the user to fill out the registration form and submit it to see if its a bot (abnormally fast) or not.

This is correct. I'm referring to the time it takes to fill out the registration form, not the time between registrations.

I am taking new mods.I am about to get some more "time" now \(^-^)/
Let them face the spammers wrath... just kidding -_^
Thanks guys ^^

Setting a Q and A verification asking what my forum was called reduced spambots to 0% you could give that a try.

I highly recommend Spamalyzer.

It can stop so much spam before it ever hits your forum. Because it activates when the user/spambot tries to post their spam and checks it then. If the post meets certain criteria then it just gets erased instead of posted.

It checks things like:
- how many links (simple and complex).
- what language the spam is (since if you're an English site getting Chinese posts they're probably spam...)
- what keywords are being used. (Includes the option to add your own keywords.)
- which forums to weight more heavily (so if you notice that one specific forum is getting hit hard you can target it.)
- which groups to check. (So if you know that new members are spammers but not those with over 100 posts then you can target only that one group.)
