Well I am in the process of making PB into a vBulletin forum. I was just wondering if this would take in more members and what is your thought on the convert?

vBulletin has a cash/point system etc so I don't need to worry about services etc. The only thing is I am going to start from scratch but get as many topics as I can back onto the forum, then i'll do exchanges etc. We only have around 850 posts, so i'm hoping it won't take long to achieve this again.

Why not just convert the forum database into a Vbulletin one and transfer all the members, posts and threads. This will save you time and will still make everyone happy.

If there's one thing that I don't like is my post count being removed and me having to start all over again on a forum that I love due to an issue or update.

I'll see what I can do about inserting the members, posts and threads back. The threads and posts used for MyBB have different fields than that of vBulletin.

Just out of curiosity, what are the motives behind buying someone's database?

Also, OT to the original post, yes I think that VB will take in more members, but I that there is a very high chance that current members are going to leave the forum in frustration of the switch, so it might take some time to get back to where you were, but afterwards, you'd be better off.

I, myself like to own databases. I love databases and is the actual reason why I became interested in forums in the first place. This also ties in with forums and I would very much enjoy viewing the database of this site and see what is recorded. It is also good for use of members for another forum.

If you have a legal version of vBulletin you can download ImpEx from the members area of the site. It can convert various forum softwares to vBulletin, including MyBB. It will transfer all the posts, members and forums over.

Yes, it's very easy to do from PHPBB, never tried MYBB though.
