I just read Mybb is raising money for Mybb.com

Why is it so much? 3,000 dollars seems like a ton of freggin money for a domain, I bought my jeep for that much.

They have been trying to get the domain for while and before it has been for sale at like 20,000 dollars and more! This is the cheapest it has been and they are doing there best to get it before the price rises again.

It's a good domain and they need it, I wouldn't mind charging that amount for one of my domains, damn domainers!

Never knew that, I went to mybb.com and it was another like for sale page, thought it was nothing special.

Wrote a post about it. They need it mostly for marketing, seo, and traffic. $3000 is pretty reasonable for a 4 letter domain anyway.

To show my support Ive donated $5, but plan to donate more in the future.

A lot of premium domain names are upwards of $10000 - 3k is actually pretty cheap.

Premium domain are domain that are mostly searched on search engines (keywords)

The domain is needed, MYBB.COM is a great domain for 3k.

Because it's a short domain, it's someone else's, and because it costs more than $3000.

It's just a few big guys donated most of the money to acquire it.

That would be hilarious.

The fact of the matter is, you have no idea how much the owner of that domain would be making off of having it as a parked domain. Honestly, I think selling it at between 3-5k is really cheap for a four letter + a major marketing domain.

I hope the owner doesn't sell it now. He should wait until MyBB is starting a small decline after a peak, and that's when desperate times means desperate measures. MyBB would really do anything to get that domain, and it could potentially be worth a low $xx,xxx.
