The Feedzilla table.
This is not a major part of your forum, but I think the Feedzilla table is a good thing to have. It updates with breaking news in the United States. I feel like this can be beneficial because as a member is reading a topic about abortion, there could be breaking news in the side table regarding it. Also, there is no doubt that it fits your forum's genre well. Is there a way to have the side table only show certain news? The updates are very general, so it might be better to do that. For example, it updates with sports news. If there is a way to exclude the table to political issues, I think it would be better to do that. Lastly, if it is possible, you should change the color of the Feedzilla table. I do not know if you can customize it, but if you can, you need to take advantage of it. Right now, the table is bright orange and it does not really match the rest of the forum.
The content.
Activity could be a lot better, but in general, your forum has a lot of great content on it. Even though your forum only has 570 posts, most of the posts on your forum are high quality posts. I think your forum is a great example of the idea of quality over quantity. There are not a lot of posts, but the posts that your forum does have are fantastic. Also, your forum has 180 topics. It is great that topics are being made, but you need to find a way to get people to reply to these topics. Your forum receives two or three replies to topics on average. That is a disappointing statistic. I think you need to try your best to improve this. You could host a competition or contest to get members involved. Maybe you could have a humorous prize that relates to politics. Finally, I am confused by your forum's age? You say your forum opened in 2010, but it is very hard to find posts before 2013. I found one post that is from September 2012. Did you restart your forum? The forum had little to no activity before 2013.
Weaknesses:
The board layout.
As far as your forum's weaknesses go, I think the board layout definitely needs to be addressed. Right now, I think your forum's layout is kind of awkward. You have two categories and sixteen boards. I think it might be a good idea to get rid of a couple of the less active boards. For example, "The U.S. Constitution" board hasn't had a post in it in five days and there have only been ten posts made in it so far. Perhaps it could be removed? I feel like it could be made a sub-board elsewhere. I guess where it would be put is debatable. One person might consider it a conspiracy, but someone else might think of it as something that belongs in the "Current U.S. News & Events" board. If you would rather not remove any boards, I still think it would be better to have a couple more categories. The category with thirteen boards should probably be expanded into two or three categories instead of one. Also, I think it is weird that you have the "NationTalk Blogs" board and the "Off-Topic" board in the main category. Maybe these two boards could have their own category? Overall, I think there are a few adjustments that could be made for the better.
The header and the menu.
I do not know if this is a resolution issue, but the menu needs to be moved to the right. Right now, the menu and the logo are not even. The menu shows up higher than the logo, and the first half of the "Home" link is above the "Discourse" in the logo. Assuming this is a resolution issue, you should work on fixing width issues like this. If it is not a resolution issue, then I think it would be a lot better if the logo and the menu were aligned. Next, you do not have very many links in your menu on the forum. Since you have a website set up as well, I think you could have website links in the menu on the forum. For example, you do not have the "Articles" link on the forum, but you do have it on the website. Why is that? Overall, I think the header and the menu looks nice, but that flaw definitely needs to be attended to.
Final Remarks:
I think NationTalk.us looks like an awesome forum for political discussions and debates. Personally, I love to discuss current events, so I am planning on joining this forum soon. It seems to be pretty active lately, so whenever I have time to spare, I will definitely sign up. It appears to be a fantastic forum to have serious discussions about issues in the United States.
