Need a bit of help please..

I want to do a logo for my website however I can't find how to make the background transparent. I use GIMP if you could help me out that would be very amazing thank you!

You'll have to save it as a PNG, or alternatively a GIF if you want the background to be transparent.

If you want to start out transparent, go to File>New and then Advanced Options and under Background, click Transparent.

If you already have an image and you want a transparent background, go to Layer>Transparency>Add Alpha Channel and then use the Fuzzy Select tool to select the white part and press delete.


Save as PNG after finished.

As mentioned, start saving all files as PNG as that is new "web standard" from W3C - it's a lot more looseless as well as looks better than GIF and allows you to do a bunch of stuff.

NOTE:
* JPG does NOT allow TRANSPARENCY
* GIF DOES allow a single "color" TRANSPARENCY (you can't have a faded transparent, or shadows, etc.
* PNG allows all of it
