Need a few ideas (fundraising)

Hello,

Earlier this month I set up a fundraising site for my sister who is hopefully going to raise enough money to visit Ghana, Africa for a three weeks to help orphanages. Due to the deposits etc she doesn't have enough money on advertising and even though she was in the local paper, it simply isn't enough.

This is where I researched and found that there aren't many resources for fundraisers. It is hard to get your fundraising known - if you are fundraising for a charity you usually have to get your friends and family to donate but it is very hard to get everyone else to know about it. This is why people can't raise as much money. I want to help this, not just for my sister but for other fundraisers as well.

I have a managed VPS and domain name already set up, it may be too soon but I am serious about this project. I need ideas to create a website to give fundraisers extra exposure. I am out of ideas which is why I need your help. I would like to make some money from this but this is so I can improve the site even further.

Try kickstarter. You can also put a FB page up in support of the initiative. Many people do it successfully, you can of course push it through your friend list (that is, if you're a FB member). Same with Twitter too
