Okay...at the start of my forum I installed a chat box, which is now on my forum homepage.

Here are my forum stats:

Our users have posted a total of 692 messages

We have 116 registered users

-----------------------------------------

Most of the members go on the chat box rarther than actually post on the different sections. I've thought about removing it; but I think it will be a bad thing to do and will make many users leave...so what should I do? Remove it? Or keep it?

Cheers. 🙂

That's why I avoid chatboxes, at least at such an early stage for a forum. 😉

I'd start by warning them that if they don't get their asses out of the chatbox and into the forums then you'll take it away, and you and your staff should post more in the forums in order to encourage discussion.

Okay, cheers for the advice!... Much appreciated. 🙂

Make a general chat thread in the general discussion and tell them to use that instead

Also a good idea, but that also runs the same risk of being the only thing people use. 😛

Chatboxes not only screw up your bandwidth, they lower activity on a forum. Just remove it.
