Hey guys. My tablets are old and really starting to show their age (lack of updates, etc)

So i'm looking for a new tablet, preferably a smaller 7 incher. I'm stuck between the Nexus 7 and the iPad Mini. Please recommend me one. Not sure which to go with. I want a case and BT keyboard combo for either one I choose so please include reliable ones..... Not looking to spend more then $400 on both products....

I'd definitely go for the Nexus 7. It will stay up-to-date for longer, a lot of the apps are free (albeit you do get ads), Android is a lot more customisable than iOS, it is cheaper and it feels a lot better to hold and such.

This is just my opinion, but the Nexus 7 is way better than the iPad Mini. I seem to remember thinking the screen was really bad on it (I might be wrong there though)...

Hm yeah that's one of my concerns that as soon as I'd buy the iPad mini the iPad mini 2 or something would be released....... will Nexus 7 be updated to Android 4.2 or has it already been done?

As far as I am aware they started rolling out the 4.2.2 update during February.

May I also note it may be worthwhile waiting till the end of may, as that is when Google's I/O conference will be held. This is where the Nexus 7 was revealed last year, so an update is expected this year as well.

It's hard with the iPad mini, those of us in the tech news world can't work out when they will release it. The iPad is thought to come in the next month or so, because every iPad apart from the 4th has been announced around March, but the iPad mini could be released with the iPhone laster in the year.

Yeah I might hold off and see what happens. 🙂 Thanks for the feedback, guys. 🙂

Here's what I would do: Wait for the 2nd generation iPad Mini.

Using Android, your more vulnerable to Androids growing virus's, it won't retain it's value, and it won't last as long as the iPad Mini.

With the 2nd generation, the Nexus 7 will be blown away. Or, the Nexus 8 will be blown away.
