I'm so overwhelmed!!! I feel like my board is being spammed to hell. IDK I've never run a forum so IDK if it's just because I'm not used to the feeling, but I'm just so overwhelmed.

Have you got anti spam stuff installed?

Spam, sadly, is just something that comes with running a forum.

Nah It was just in my head and I dont have any staff so the fact that I had such a successful opening and ran it by myself is just crazy for me especially because it's my first time running a board. I'm going to get some staff.

First time I set up a board I didnt have staff, soon overwhelmed me too!

Good luck with your forum.

There's not too much you can do about it because you're on a free forum. Sorry 🙁 The stress is a pain, but it's worth it once you see your community grow!

Be careful when you get staff, make sure you can trust them. Recommended that you have staff that feels as strongly about the forum as you do. maybe offer them some incentives that will help them stay on track also.

Agreed. I have tried running a forum off and on for 2 years, and this is my first successful forum, and I've had to learn this bit the hard way. Trust me, it'll be a lot easier if you have some staff to comply with. Someone who will be there to look after the forum if you need a break, or whatever. Your best bet is to pick someone who is very active on the board, and like TreyB said, make sure that you can trust them. Not everybody out there on the Internet are trustworthy, so defenitley watch out for that one.

Yeah I have a few really dedicated members, so I guess it's just picking out the ones I can trust. And it's also not as easy as you say, because since it's a graphics board they have to be good designers... And I haven't really found any yet.

Give your other staff members only as much power as they need to do tasks that are safer; like moving/locking threads; this will free up your time to manage higher level work that is quite dangerous in the wrong hands. Over time as your forum grows more you'll establish a rapport with your staff and you'll be able to know better whom you can really trust when it comes time you need a hand with higher adminning as well.

If its Spam-bot spam consider getting re-CAPTCHA if you dont already have it, it works wonders with keeping those bots at bay. Other than that I'd say just build up a great staff team who you trust.

His board is on Invisionfree so it doesn't get spambots anymore due to the system put in place by Brandon. It used to get tons beforehand. He's talking about human beings and not bots.

Your going to have spam anywhere you go and all my suggestions everyone else pretty much already said.

Just get some staff together that you can trust keep them on a short leash and if they work out well give them more responsibilities for they can help you out more.

That's true. My own site was hacked over the weekend, and apparently in the meantime, other sites were having a problem with spam as well. I'm just counting my blessings at the moment and thankful that my co-administrator was able to get the site back up and running smoothly again for the moment.
