Need Help making Social Network

I have been wondering for a long time about making a social network. I'd like something like Twitter (like that would ever happen).
The problem is- I don't have money, so I can't make a good social network site. So far, I've looked at many free social networking sites, but they all look too 'texty' and 'blogy', if you understand what I mean.
They don't look anything like the simple bright Twitter, and I wanted to create something like that.

I don't really want to join any staff/teams, etc, sorry. I wanted someone to help build the website, so we could both own 50%, and help it grow.

Well, it is hard to say.
I will run (moderate) around 80% of the forum, or perhaps less if wanted.
I will promote the network, hire ads on many forums (with forum cash), get traffic, and try and get a domain name jointly.

Do you have a particular idea in mind that you wish to develop?

Social network. I just want it to be general, really, but personal too.
Example: Private shopping lists, to do lists, applications, a wall thing (but much more simple then Facebook's), and obviously friends.
But then there could be worldwide stories on one page, that people all round the world are submitting for everyone to see, and perhaps poems on one, and on another, articles and personal 'musings/ideas'. Oh, and a sort of chat page thing (that functions the same as Twitter) where you can write up to 200 characters on anything at all, from a link to a simple conversation line, and everyone can see it worldwide again.

By the way, if anyone copies this, I shall sue you 'til you're dry lol

I was playing with the idea of creating a twitter like social network and i came across this, free and very nice micro blogging software 🙂 I set it up on my localhost and i can tell you it is awesome 😉

If you don't have legal copyrights over the idea then you won't win in court.

Do you know any web programming languages? It doesn't sound like it so your partner would be the only one "building" the site, and I'm sure no one wants to do something like that alon.
