There's no secret formula to marketing. You just have to be everywhere, constantly. Let people know and see about your brand. Offer some good content that separates you from the rest.

Paid advertisements work, but don't expect much from them. Not in the area we are at least. Get some free partnerships up with similar forums that you think have an audience that would fit yours too.

Thanks for the advice 🙂

I was going to try twitter x advertisements but they’re too use to the feed format so it most likely won’t work out that way.

Trying other forums is always an option though.

Don't waste your money on facebook, twitter or any other social media. They're not your target audience. If you're lucky you'll have 1 new member, but still would be a throwing away money where you can book better results elsewhere.

Thanks for the heads up and i believe i am going in the right direction thanks to the ideas you’ve given me too!

I try to keep it around other forums members that share the interest the brand is about.

Ive seen many active newer forums so its definitely possible with the right strategy.

No worries! 🙂 Of course it's possible, just be consistent in bringing new content. You need to give a reason why people want to visit your forum. If nothing new is there, people will stop visiting. It's been like this ever since forums were founded.

Marketing is a task. It can be daunting, and it takes effort but once you get a rhythm down, you'll get good at it.

You have an articles section. Start trying to get out an article a few times a week. Work on your SEO and keyword research for the articles. Use those as main promotional material. People have to join to reply to the articles. Membership goal.

Make sure the article is engaging, valuable, and meets the needs and wants of your target audience. You need to know who exactly your target audience is. You might even need to narrow down your niche more. Gaming is BIG market with a lot of competition. You could be a needle in a haystack unless you niche down a few more levels.

Establish a presence on social media where your audience is. Join groups and communities around your niche, follow people in it, engage daily and at scale. Post daily and at scale. Buffer is a great tool to help with post daily with automation. Organic content will help you grow more than promotional content.

I do a 90/10 strategy with my social content. 90% native; 10% promotional.

Join other gaming forums. Use the same username and avatar as you do on your own forum. On these forums, focus on becoming a very helpful members who's super friendly and easy to get along with. Develop relationships. After you develop friendships, recruit members in PM but ask before you give them a link. Don't be a spammer. Build your brand and reputation and be identified easily.

Do the same approach as above on Q&A sites like Quora and Reddit. Become a known authority of your niche and get attention from those who are fans of it.

Consider video marketing. Short form on YT and IG can help you gain more views and followers.

Focus on content on your own forum that is highly engaging and extremely valuable. If members get something out of reading your content - you'll win their loyalty. Loyal members are great for referring more people to join.

Run fun contents and giveaways frequently even if bragging rights is the prize. The prize isn't what gets participation. It's the community of it and how fun and engaging you make it.

Befriend creators and influencers and ask them to help you. You can even pay some to do it. If you have a budget, pay for some ads on other forums and social media. Fine-tune social ads to target your direct audience and use copywriting in your ad.

Participate in events and gaming conferences if possible. Network and make friends.

Consider starting a blog and a mailing list. A mailing list is nice because it's a direct line between you and your followers that Google and social media can't intervene in.

I hope these ideas help you! Best of luck!
