Need ideas for a classroom activity. Will PAY!

Poem, make them act out a small play, get some music that these leaders would play back in the day, and a quiz.

You could possibly have the students get in groups and create their own Totalitarianism government. In doing so, they would create a leader, the aspects of the government, and such. You could make it be fun, and let them pretty much create their own country, where they make a flag with it, draw a picture of it. Although, you should tell them that the point of it is to create a Totalitarianism government mainly.

It's a good start, but I'm looking for something more specific.

That is a fantastic idea. Unfortunately I forgot to mention that we only have about 10 minutes to do this activity. =\

Hmm..well you could still have them get in groups really quick, then have them create their own government that is a Totalitarianism government for 5 min. Then have each group present their info.

You could have them all write out a list of pro's and cons, things they would miss and things they would think would make a change for the better?

You could always find clean jokes about these leaders and having kids make up there own, or do a five minute powerpoint presentation and a five minute quiz.

I think you should actually make the classroom feel like a totalitarian state. You can be the dictator. Play only the music you like. Make them do things. And if they don't, then fake kill them or kick them out?

Thoughts?

I think i'll collaborate with Volux's idea. You should let them make their own government, which can be like in 2-3 minutes, then you can debate on specific topics and see what government is the most powerful. Winners can get a prize, eg. Lollypops.

I think Kino's idea would be very effective to make the students feel how it would be. Actually having something happening to you puts it into your head much better, and you will get a lot more out of it (and learn more,) by doing so. The only question is how.

I think the activity would best be very practical. Make sure at the start of the lesson you explain exactly what a totalitarianism government is, using a good definition that they can understand. Then explain that the classroom, for the remaining 8 or 9 minutes - will be run by a totalitarianism government. This would work best if you had a teacher/teaching assistant with you who could be a member of your government also.

Then act it out - make them do things exactly how you want them to, but be sure not to upset them. If you upset them it will ruin the activity, make sure what you are getting them to do (e.g. sharpen pencils, sort out piles of paper) isn't too much, and if they don't do it right, don't shout at them or send them out of the classroom. Simply stop them, explain how it works and tell them what would happen in a country governed like this.

I don't know, it's just an idea. It's hard to do much in 10 minutes, and I'm not sure of the age group?
