I have a job interview next week.

I need to have planned a 3 minute activity for 2nd graders. I have a few lose ideas, but I'm wondering if anyone has any.

This is only three minutes long and is indoors.

I had to google how old second graders are

I remember a game we played in school called "Heads down, thumbs up"......The teacher picks 4 pupils to stand up front, the class put their heads down on their desks, close their eyes and put their thumbs up on top of their heads. The four people then go around and touch one persons thumbs each (the thumbs then goes down once touched) once the four have chosen someone each they stand at the front and the selected pupils have to stand up, they then have one turn each to guess who touched their thumbs, if they are correct they swap places and get to chose in the next game. It's a fun game but after typing all that I'm not actually sure what it teaches kids and realise it might take a bit longer than 3 minutes

How about having some ready made flash cards eg: 4 animals and the name for their babies........Sheep = Lamb, Cow = Calf, get the kids to match up with the correct partner, you could make it more difficult by doing an opposites category or a maths puzzle or something instead?

Bono, could you go into your idea a little moe? How does it work?

Mistake, I like your second idea. 😉

Thanks, both of you!

What you do is you have the class sit in a circle, and you start by whispering something to one of the kids, then he whispers that to the kid next to him and so on until it reaches back to the first kid again who will tell you what he heard, odds are the final result will be different from what was originally said and from there you can compare the game they just played to spreading rumors and how they can be distorted.

Ah, I remember now. That would be great.

Only problem is that I think the group may be small.

Or you could do a three minute powerpoint presentation presenting how to become un-bored or discuss cool things. But if they do not have a Promothian Board at the school then do a circle time kind of thing were kid's can share there feelings about life and give away a prize if you have a small contest.

1) Naptime.

2) Bono's idea

3) Have the kids tell you about themselves lol

How about the memory game?

Start the sentence "I went to the grocers today and I bought some bread" ....the next person says "I went to the grocers today and I bought some bread and some milk". This continues around the group with each person adding another item while trying to remember the list in order. The game ends when a person can not remember everything.

MissTake, I'm loving that idea. And since this will be a group interview with teenagers, I will use a huge list to screw with them.
