just created a new website which is relating to desktop wallpapers, question if I want to stop people copying them and want payments for them instead, how do I stop the copying of the art.

at the moment the above is just an idea so any help and advice would be appreciated.

Watermark all your images... Most gallery/ wallpaper scripts should be able to do this. Not really sure about how you would go about accepting payments. Perhaps do a search for "shutterstock clone script" or something.

Watermaker and right click disabled.. Other than that I don't know what could help you.

I agree with the two posts above me. Definitely watermark your images, and disable right clicking (although there are other means of still getting the image without right-clicking, this should slow down most of them).

There are online watermarking tools, if you aren't sure how to add them in, or want a faster method. You can take a look at https://www.watermark.ws/, they have both paid and free plans available.

Good luck! 😀

I would tend to agree with most of the above responses, although wouldn't waste time disabling right clicking (such old hat nowadays, with a mammoth amount of workarounds) - anything from view source code, mouseover breakers to screen grabbers or gallery thumbnail/image capture utils.

By all means, do what you can to protect your images - and focus (excuse the pun) on watermarks or at least transparent copyrighting in your original image/photo as a layer. That way, if you have a buyer, you simply remove the layer and send along the clean version of your image/photo.

All the best,
Cal 🙂

many thnks for all the replies.

just been looking at the attributes of the art and it is stamped with a actual date along with some other stuff to when it was first created which should hopefully get around the issue.

looking at ways to monetize the site and am able to set up a store front so something for me to look in to for the future.

for now I will just get interests in the new site and offer for free for the time been.

One other thing to note Mike!

In our early days of presenting local area photos on our site & forum, we simply placed a flat copyright logo on the bottom left on the image ... of course, doing some web searches, we found businesses (yup, businesses!!!) using our photos with the image copyright cropped off the bottom - or another page container overlapping, so you couldn't see the copyright itself.

At the end of the day, people will try anything and turn a blind eye to internet copyright laws!!!

All the best,
Cal 🙂
