Need Tips

i just started my forum which is 3 days old and i got 17members and 296Posts. But most of the members and post are from post exchanges which was bad too.. and i need tips on what type of activity is good/suitable for my forum. As my forum basically is for designer to post their portfolio to gain comments and etc. But the most active section is the lounge area not the graphic section and all my members not really that active.. Can anyone give me tips on activity and how to get more members.. Mate, you have 12000+ FP$ so what you can do is to make something like 20FP$ (example) per topic on FP and so that would generate quite a substantial amount of topics, making your forum look active. Then, when you get real members, they will have something to go on.

Or something different... You have a portfolio forum and only you have posted in it. People need to see more of the genre of the forum before they even care about joining. Offering someone something so they can post one may increase your stats by a higher chance.

What you need to do is find members that are interested in your forum, and it can be just a few, and once you get those they should become active and post. Once you get a few dedicated members, they will tell other people about your site and then you could have members rolling in.

First just find a small community of your friends.

You know what, I'm not sure if its just me but heck, I hate such domains that are not that easy to remember.

I'd recommend you to get a top-level domain first then work on everything else. The reason members may not come back is that a domain name might be too long, confusing and if they don't bookmark your page, you lose some members who might actually like it.

Maybe its just me, but thats my thinking. Good luck 🙂

Do this (but give me credit 🙂):
1. Make a new topic in the forum cash exchanges
2. In the topic, write something along the lines of: I will give you 80FP$ for one introduction and one portfolio {FORUMURL}
3. Then, state the rules: Only make topics in the portfolio area etc.

Also, you could do a posting competition, where users can only post in that certain area. ie. 5 posts = 1 ticket, and then at the end the prize could be 1000FP$. Have a look in the Cash Exchanges for previous deals.

If it's for Graphics then hold a SOTW or NSTOW(newbie signature of the week) And maybe a LAOTW/M(Large art of the week/month)
