1) When Im nervous I stare at the hottest chick in the class or one person...dont do that.
2) Sum up what your talking about, because you get to sit down sooner.
3) Avoid making the nervousness affect your speech...shake a leg or something...Might look funny, but it helps...
Be sure you know what your talking about. I did a presentation on climate change to 200+ people last year and the only reason I didn't freak is because I knew what I was talking about. Also, try to find a public speaker you admire (for me its Obama) and do your best to be like them. Odds are if theyre a good speaker, you'll find yourself doing well.
Don't look at people in the audience. Try and look at the back wall.
Know what you are talking about well, makes you less nervous.
Just think that everybody else has to do this too, everybody else is feeling the same way as you. Just get it over and done with.
If it's an assessment all you should be thinking is that you want to do whatever you can do get the best mark possible. Just do whatever you have to do to get that mark.
Later that day, no one will remember what you said anyway.
Always have Q cards on hand when you get mixed up or need help with explaining the subject/topic your focusing on.
Alwys have water near you to take a breather between, plus you can talk to a whole community who aren't shy and it's just like talking to your friends surely to god you have a big group of friends so it can't be that bad suppending on the crowd.
I disagree with that. I give speech presentations all the time, and if you want to captivate the audience, you should be looking across the room, not starting at a back wall. Your audience will be asleep in 30 seconds if you stare at the wall.
