I've got a question. I have an HP Pavillion dv6000, and my internal wireless adapter decided it was time to retire. I've heard a lot of other people have had this problem...but too little too late I fear. So I am wondering if there is an external card or adapter I could buy that is compatible with my model so that I can pick up wireless signal again.

There are USB wireless Wi-Fi adapters which you can buy for around 20-30 dollars online. But, you have to make sure that they work with your operating system.

Just a question, but why not go wired (unless you are far away from your router)?

The HP Pavilion DV series are laptops. I read online the DV series from HP tend to overheat which makes the wireless card die then the motherboard dies. I think he needs to use wireless at school, in a coffee shop, or other place with wi-fi.

That's correct, I use my laptop for schoolwork and just about everything else, and wireless internet is very helpful. Additionally, I could use wired but the only open connection in my house is in my basement.

Thanks for the info, I'll probably look at some Wi-Fi adapters this week. Though with that whole motherboard frying deal, I may look into a new laptop, though I'm not sure it's the wisest move right now. But I have had this one since '07, so perhaps it's time.
