Hi all,

Today, we're announcing a new addition to FP: the Featured Website service. This new service provides a new type of advertising, that we hope will help you more easily promote your website. At the same time, we're also announcing a few smaller updates to the promotion directory and forum index. Read on to find out more.

Featured Websites NEW

The Featured Websites service is a new type of advertisement on FP. Instead of paying FP$ to request an ad for your site, we instead reward every post you make on FP, in any section, and at any time, with a small chance to get your website advertised on our index. By posting on FP, you instantly gain a chance at more exposure for your site.

The Featured Websites are now displayed on the FP forum homepage, below the forum list. Screenshot below.

Here's how it works:
  • Each time you post on FP, you automatically earn a ticket.
  • Every hour, we draw four random tickets. The winners have their website added to the featured websites list for the next hour.
  • Tickets last for twenty four hours. Whenever you post, your ad may appear in Featured Websites for up to one day after that post.
  • The first entry on the Featured Websites list is always given to the user who posted the most messages on FP over the last twenty four hours. Post the most, and you get guaranteed exposure.
To enter your site, simply click on your username in the top right corner of this page, click "Personal Details" and enter your website address into either the Homepage field, or the featured site ad link field.

Since ads are picked using a lottery-style system, posting more means you have a higher chance of your site showing up on the list. However, even if you post once, you still have a chance of your site appearing.

This new service will replace our old Text Ad and Signature Ad services. For more information about Featured Websites, please check out our information thread.

Promotion Directory UPDATED

Today, we're adding two new categories to the promotion directory: Entertainment (for forums and sites related to gaming, music, movies, arts, sports, and anime) and Technology & Business (for forums and sites related to tech, design, the internet, business, and finance). The Discussion category will be renamed to General, and will accept all other sites that don't fit into other categories.

For a long time, we've allowed web hosts to be advertised in two different places on FP: the promotion directory and the marketplace, under Web Hosting. To make advertising more focused for web host owners, we're combining the Web Hosting section of the marketplace with the Webmaster section of the PD. Going forward, web hosts should be advertised in the PD exclusively, under the Webmaster category.

Finally, we've removed the Submit a Website or Forum section. To submit a forum, simply post a topic in the desired section. We'll approve it shortly, or move it to the correct section.

Over the next week, we'll be moving existing topics into their correct categories. If you'd like your topic to be moved to one of the new ones, or feel your topic was moved in error, please click the report button on your topic to send in a move request.

Forum Index UPDATED

Lastly, we're announcing a few small changes to the forum index. The Services category will be merged with the Interaction category, to form a new category called Shopping Square, which is dedicated to both official and member-to-member services to grow your forum. We're also creating the new Webmaster's Corner category, that will be home to sections focused on interacting and networking with fellow webmasters.

That wraps up our announcements for today. We hope you enjoy these updates.

I like the updates. 🙂

For a while, members (and even myself) have suggested that we should move our services into a more peer-to-peer format, as opposed to the boring services that we used to have. Now, it seems that we have finally gotten our wish. I really like the idea, and I know it'll help boost activity on FP. 🙂

I love everything with this update but....

This, this here is not going to be beneficial for actual webmaster communities and blogs. Instead, the section is just going to be spammed with web hosting advertisements.

People looking for webmaster related niche websites, forums, blogs, etc are just going to be filled with hosting ads. In my opinion what should have happened was leaving the Web Hosting section and not allowing hosts to show up in the webmaster PD.

That's definitely a valid concern. We're going to keep an eye on the Webmaster section to see how it develops with both types of topic under one roof. If it gets too crowded, we can always split the sections again.

Well, I can tell you all this now that I shell always be on the featured as I'm the most active person and poster and how do I feel about that? feels great It makes me allot happy. It's giving me an very good reason to be an good member. I also see that the new features will make other new and old members to start being active and by being active they get awarded. FP had to had some system for keeping members to work themselves up on FP as being active for them to able to have FP awarded them with promotion. H|ope that this will bring in allot more new traffic.

Good to see my idea that I posted some weeks ago and now fully approved. This is very good so that all topics gets posted and then needs approving. So all fake or spam topics or even real deal topic but haven't meet the requirements won't be approved and other members like myself will never know. More clean!!!
