New Ad Sharing - FreeForums.org
What do you think, is this a good or bad idea?
Division said:Because of the overwhelming feedback we've received about allowing users to put ads on their forum, I'm pleased to announce the completion of a new BETA reward system for FreeForums.org. This is the first of many upcoming features aimed at helping admins make money off their forum. Effective immediately, you can enable the "Ad Sharing" feature from your admin panel. Once enabled, there will be In-Text ads on every page powered by Kontera.
Kontera’s contextual technology analyzes the content on a page and determines the general theme of the page. From there, it will highlight keywords relevant to the theme of the post. The result is resource links your users will find relevant and informative. All while being non-intrusive unlike flashing banner ads or popups. We have been working very closely to Kontera to create a custom solution for ad-serving on the FreeForums.org network.
While other forum hosts keep 100% of the revenue to themselves, we will be giving most of it back in the form of service credits. When you enable the ad sharing feature, you will receive credits towards FreeForums.org purchases (domains, copyright removal, more storage, advanced hosting, etc) based on the amount of traffic your forum gets.
To view a demo of this in action you can go to http://adtest.freeforums.org/viewtopic.php?t=1. The best part of this type of ad is users can turn them off if they wish so you won't annoy or lose any users.
To assist in stat tracking and to allow for legit testing you will have to wait 30-days after enabling the ads before you can disable them. This is a BETA program so we will continuously making changes and your feedback is valuable. We reserve the right to cancel this test at any time.
We understand going from a non-ad to ad-supported forum can be a change so we've prepared some points you can tell your members on our blog.
Thanks for using FreeForums.org
