I came up with this new idea that was inspired by the annoying, irritating, bounce mokata thing. Basically what you would do is submit your forum link and it would be placed in a list. Then you would place code for a small bar that would scroll five forum links, completly random from the submitted list. Everytime someone changed topics, the five links would change. It would kindof be like a mass affiliate type of thing, except your forum would have a random chance of being displayed on everyone's board that submitted their link. In order to keep your forum on the list you would need to keep the bar on your page.

The bar would be as wide as your skin and about this tall.

_________

As you can see, its very small.

Please post your comments becuase I will only code it if their is interest.

This would involve editing the skin if i understand what you are saying an i can't do that all though I can edit the portal tpl so i could add a random link box on there and i had one of those actually on my old forum although that would only show one at a time randomly.

IF you use something that has a skin editor its possible.

Ive seen a few sites use ideas somwhat like this, its best to get something like Invionsfree or Ipb if you wish to do this properly.

Well, I would be coding it in javascritp so all you would need would be a simple line (below) and it would scroll mabey 5 - 8 forum links (no buttons).

there wouldnt be much modifying, just an html code
Code:
<script src="http://...... script.js> </script>

Invisionfree is crap really compared to other free ipb hosts. If/when i upgrade so i have full control of the forum i would have access to the skins ect and i will be able to add mods and so on so i would be able to do this.

I found freeforums expecially on AYA very laggy for some reason. Can you actually edit the php files on the server?

I wouldn't be able to add that to the skin as you can't edit it at all.

Invisionfree you have a full control of admin cpanel/skins and the ability to add over 1k+ different mods all ranging in different areas.

Also IF will be updating later on to Zetaboards which may become the biggest thing to hit since vbulletin 😛

But its defintely not the best, a nice Invionsfree/ipb host is spreebb

Zetaboards apparently is full of bugs mind you i have heard it from loads of people on rival hosts but there you go.

As for spreebb... I had a board with them and it wasn't that good. Ipbfree is good as they are constantly updating their boards unlike invisionfree who have not made updates for years.

I understand about If updating their boards, but they are recently with the pre-release of Zetaboards and most of the bugs are being worked out before the release.

I do agree with ipbfree, its defintely a awesome host to use.

Spreebb i think has recenetly been updated to include a advanced IF admin panel and a few new features.

The only way i could use a html code on the index page is if i place it in the forum description as that allows html but other then that i can't.

Is this forum hosted by someone else? Phpbb does have the ability and features to let you edit templates. Now if this is with someone I could understand but phpbb does let you edit the skins.
