New opening sequence, new filming techniques, Smithy's the new inspector and Meadows is the new Super Intendant.

Anyone else seen it? It's brilliant. 😀

The new opening is shambles and could have been done better, they cant get rid of the theme that makes them The Bill! But they new filming is a lot better, and I think having it at 9pm means they can go deeper. Shame that Neil didnt go for DCI, unless he did but I havent heard or seen a mention of it.

Really good so far, and just saw this at DP.

As part of the revamp, producers have opted to axe the iconic theme for a new sound, while the title sequence will now feature a lone police car on a journey through the streets of London.

The new-look episodes will also contain a specially composed musical score throughout.

Speaking of the reimaging of the show, executive producer Johnathan Young said: "We haven't sought to totally reinvent The Bill, but we have wanted to create a more immersive experience for our viewers. We're digging deeper into characters to tell stronger and more challenging stories which really examine the true causes and effects of crime."

He continued: "The later timeslot allows us to produce darker, grittier and more hard-hitting drama, through the eyes of our existing characters. The heart of the show will remain the same, but it will look very fresh."

I really like the new opening. I don't see why removing the classic soundtrack is a big deal, this is the 21st century, times are changing. The new opening (with the episode having already started before the theme tune) creates a good atmosphere and kind of, prepares the user for the show. One thing I didn't like with the old sound track was that if you were in the heat of the moment and then that loud, flashing "The Bill" logo came up.

I also noticed some subtle background music, and man does it add an extra something to the show. Feels a lot more like a drama now as opposed to some guys standing around wearing police costumes and pretending to arrest each other.

10/10 for me - wouldn't change a thing.

Well bitch the show has been going for over 20 years with that theme, yeah they could have done something else to make the theme better and jazz that one up. But getting rid of it completely and then not having a theme at all? Are they trying to make it into a documentary or something? Its a show..it needs a theme. I thought on the episode Thursday that the whole rolling around in the police car before the episode, with some small music was like some opening scene which would change and then launch into something better. Dont get me wrong im still a fan but changing something like that...they deserve a slap. And not one with the hand.

Haven't seen the new one yet. But really enjoyed the original series. I'll have to see if i can catch it some time.
