Well, electronic drums are massive fun (tons of sounds to play with - like guitar fuzzbox) - and you can have them anywhere. There's no noise problem. Also, no need to change heads or tune things.
Now, my old sets were Pearl and CB Percussion - but both eventually got torn apart - so I haven't played (just made lessons) for maybe a year or two.
