Hi Guys,

In the past I have been part of Admin Teams, Mod Teams, Forum Developers etc, and I know how to do those tasks, but now I have a community of my own. I created a brand new site using XenForo and along with it I created a Discord chat that is single sign on with the Forum and all the roles match the one on the site.

In terms of design, features, user experience, I'm great at all that. But now that I have all that stuff done how do I start out with my forum? Of course I would advertise it here, the problem is what are people into now a days that will make them wanna post and be on the site without using Discord Chat so much which in my opinion has been making people post less and even say that forums are dying.

What sections should I have? I do know that I don't want to make a gaming Forum. First of all there's too many of them. Secondly, I am part of the Admin team for a Gaming community already and they do not use that site hardly, always on discord, plus the owner (who is my boyfriend) and either way does not let me advertise this new site in his Discord chat or our main site (despite the VPS and domains being mine >.> ) That's basically the issue I am facing. How can I start out on my own and being noticed. I already have a few staff members I could hire that I trust but what sections should my forum have. Apart from the hidden staff area This is all I have created so far. So from here I can pretty much go towards anywhere.

Hello, i have a few questions if i may..

1) Have you purchased any domain for your new domain, if yes, what is that?
2) Since the discord on your bf site drives away the forum traffic, why would you want to install that on your site?
3) If you have a loyal team of ppl who can be of help you can easily collaborate with an another forum. Even i am looking for someone, if you are interested you can pm me.
4) If you want to start your own forum, then you should be sure of the niche atleast, so that ppl can shape your vision.

Peace.

Hi,

1: Yeah I own a VPS and I have my own domain It's NexusBoards.com

2:I installed it because I thought his users were going to be part mine so I figured at the very least have a sign in with Discord option. However, I am not offering that many channels and variety in the chat so people pay attention to the site.

3: The people I have for staff so far is my boyfriend himself and 2 Admins from his site. And sure once I figure out a niche I might pm you because I want to get to know other owners and collaborate 😀

4: From the Niche's I had thought were Roleplaying, LGBT Community, or even Programming.

Hello.

1. With that domain name, you could get off easily with nexus phones / LGBT community as well. But again these two options are saturated & you should do something out of the box to make it work.

2. I still feel like Discord is not necessary for new forums, that's my personal opinion.

3. Cool, how big is your bf's site? i am just curious.
