New Forum - Hosting Questions

Hi Guys,

I have a few questions for you.

I am planning on opening a new promotion forum using XenForo software and i'm just wondering what Host I should use??

Can anybody recommend a host where I can register a domain with them as well that isnt going to cost me a fortune?

HostGator has cheap hosting and you can buy a domain from them.

GoDaddy does this aswell.

I don't think they do domains but I highly recommend hostingfuze.com

Ok now I'm really stuck. Got hosting, got a domain, and got a XenForo licence but now I dont know what to do ?? Can someone please help?

Install xenforo on hosting shouldn't be hard.
Just create the databases.
Upload the files for xenforo
find install.
install and your done.

Even better: Learn how to use forum software before blowing your cash on hosting, a domain, and a commercial software.

You don't always have to know how to do it yourself. I own a few fairly successful sites and I don't know hardly any of the technical side, that's why I hire technicians 🙂 I'm sure someone will help you if you advertise it, Digital.

Yet you didn't pay for your forum software, he did, would you trust just anyone with a xenforo license? Hell if he asked me to set it up, I'd get the license, change the account info, and never come here again.
It's the internet bro, perhaps you can trust a technician to work on your MyBB forum, but up here in the big leagues, it's recommended you know how to do it yourself.

I still pay them to do the work for me...and the majority of people aren't crooks.

To start off, you're going to want to go to your cpanel. There should be a database wizard there. After selecting that and setting up your database, write down the database user and password. Next, open up an FTP client (I prefer FileZilla) and send the forum package to your server. You can then run through the software's (mostly automated) install process. It will ask you for the database information, just use the login from the database you created earlier.
