First off let me say that packages will be back online as soon as possible. Until then I thought the community would like to see what the Admins and Team Leaders have come up with for you(the community).

The package service has been overhauled and 3 new packages are available for you. Please see the topic here viewtopic.php?f=6&t=49589 and enjoy ๐Ÿ™‚

If you have ever been interested in being a part of this great package team then now is a good time to Apply.

waaaay too many requirements it seems like now... I can't get a basic package to boost activity anymore? Then what is the point of the packages?

Packages are meant to help members boost the statistics of their forums and help them get a head start with their forums. I think that in all the packages, the minimum forum requirements should be decreased.

Alpha- 4 days old, and forum needs to have at least 50 posts
Beta- 2 weeks old, and forum needs to have at least 150 posts
Gamma- 4 weeks old , and forum needs to have at least 250 posts

Care to explain your definition of too many requirements? I personally think the requirements are right on the money. Makes it easier for the PT.

I don't think the requirements are to harsh. It will help balance out the load on the Package team. Also Dy.namik we are well aware what packages are meant for. The requirements that begin with the Alpha package will help ensure we are posting on forums that an effort is actually being made by the requester or those that run the forum. The Alpha package should not be difficult at all to achieve. Of course you two of all people should know why there was a need for a change ๐Ÿ˜‰

I don't like the new packages.. ๐Ÿ™ I miss the old ones..

I quite like the packages, though you'd get more people requesting the Alpha package and Gamma package due to value. Beta package is twice the Alpha in cost, but only 2 posts more??? as well as the requirements.

Other than that, there isn't anything "terrible" about them.

BTW, death180, you have to consider that many forums the PT posts on end up deleted, so its just a waste of time. The requirements at least make posting worth something in the short term.

I do not like the new updates at all. Really useless.
Could you be a little more descriptive with your criticism? Calling them useless does not tell us what you like or dislike about them ๐Ÿ™‚

The amount of posts, threads, etc is really useless, could get that really easily.

Actually they could, it would take even for a high quality service of posts/topics, no more than 10/15 minutes at most to complete the highest package. Im a bit sad that the packages have been reduced to such small amounts and essentially worthless regardless of their "Quality".
If i had a 2 month old board, and more than 5,000 posts... i probably wouldn't even notice if someone came on to do a package that only gave me 4 topics and 10 posts.

I can completel understand that you are trying to offer a service that benefits both parties, but i dont see this one as really benefiting the person that is receiving the service.

Ok lol lets do a break down of the price here for a Gamma Package. The price scales a bit with the packages but this will give you an idea of how "cheap" these are. If you take the 10 posts(4 of which are topics) you come out to 15FP$ per post. That is less than what almost all ask for in the exchange forum. The Alpha gives you these for 10FP$ per post.

Where here do you think that Quality + Cost do not come into factor?

You shouldn't be comparing an official service to the exchange forum. The package forum should be a place where people can get a good amount of posts in exchange for a reduced amount of cash.

A good amount of posts is not a package that gives you 10 posts and some topics, that's something a new member could give you if they wanted to and without charge.

The quality is figured in there where? A new member isn't going to give you posts for free. The quality of the posts in this "hypothetical" situation would more than likely be very bad as well. I compare this service the way you would compare a business in any free market. Based on the competition out there at the moment and based on that your getting a great service at a reduced price(than 99% of the quality posters out there charge).

The new guidelines are pretty good, I see how much work it is for the package team and all the requests must be hard work.

Good change PT :great:

Hey Everyone,

I'll start off by saying why we felt a big change was needed to the package service. As FP grows, the amount of requests we receive continues to grow as well. The Package Service is the hardest service to run, and it always has been, some weeks the team gets bombarded with requests, some weeks there's only half the requests, it's unpredictable. With these issues & the fact that not that many people want to do packages for that long, which means the package team is constantly changing.

A change was needed, so I'm going to have to say tough luck to the members that preferred the old packages, We've made these changes so the Package Service stays online a lot more than it currently does. If you'd rather wait a week or two for your package to be completed, and sometimes not be able to re-request for a while as the service is offline, then maybe we should go back to the old packages? There may be a lot of requirements now, but as pointed out by dotDavid, a lot of forums that the PT post on end up closing a week or two after, not only do these requirements ensure that the forums that are requested have had a lot of effort put into them, but they ensure that there is a good amount of posts & threads for the package team to post on.

We're always looking for feedback on new updates, but may I remind Desired that we want constructive feedback, Saying they're "Useless" is not constructive feedback.

If we can all come together and propose some new packages that please everyone, and still have the necessary effect that I've mentioned above, then I'm sure we'll change to them ๐Ÿ™‚

I support this service change. ๐Ÿ™‚

I really like the names too, may I ask how you thought of them? ๐Ÿ˜›

Fowler suggested them, We wanted some different names, so we thought of planet names, colours etc, But I thought that Fowler's suggestion of Alpha/Beta/Gamma was the best, as did the other admins ๐Ÿ™‚
