New FP package services!

Another package change....it seems like there has never really been a good system and I doubt this change will be for the better. Aren't packages supposed to boost a new forum/enhance a developed forum?
Seriously, a 5,000 post requirement for 10 posts and 4 topics?

5,000 posts isn't hard to get if you have active members.

I quite agree. However it isn't hard to post 10 posts on a forum with 100 (or less) posts.

if a forum already has 5000 posts, what's a measly 10 posts from a package going to help with?

I'mn sorry, I've always looked out for the package team, cause the work they do is very time consuming and the least appreciated, but these requirements are ridiculous.

and, RIP - my 'quick packages' idea. 🙁

I couldn't agree more with this statement. I realise how hard it is keeping up with the services and being part of a team. I know it's even harder due to the demand of Packages but seriously, 5000 posts+ to get 10 posts, that's ridiculous. 😕

yeah, maybe a 3000 post requirement would be better, and still a little more forums could request that so there would be 20. But I still like the changes. 🙂

A lot of you are taking the time to say how ridiculous the new requirements are, but only a small few have taken the time to say what they think they should be.

being on PT will be a cakewalk now compared to how we had it in the past
That's not true at all, The amount of posts being done every fortnight per PTM has increased since your time 😉

I remember a 60 post package we used to do.
If we could offer a 60 Post package efficiently now, we would do, but it is totally out of the question 😛

A lot of you are stating that a 14 post package on a forum with 5000 posts would be pretty much useless, I'm sorry but I completely disagree on this occasion. The amount of posts on a forum does not dictate how active a forum is, It can show how active it may have been in the past, the forum isn't necessarily active at the moment, which means a package could help the forum in question quite a lot. This isn't the case for a lot of the forums that request packages, So your feedback on this has been taken on board.

I think for the largest package (10 posts), 100 or 200 posts is adequate for the forum to have.

My time too? Carsonk had quotas every week or month if you dig around you know where.

I don't blame you.

Why is everyone complaining about this? This is such a nice change, way better than the practically first packages.

Good job Sshadow 🙂

Yup, just gone through 40 or so pages (skipped a few) to september 2008 to answer your question 😛
Yes Carson's Quota was 50 posts per 15 days, 2 of our current PTM's have done over 125 posts this this past 15 days 😛

I must say they're a nice idea. The description of what's expected of us requesting packages is a lot more clear and precise than what they used to be. Also, I like the idea that your forum must be a certain age before you can request. I wish you guys had that rule sooner. It would've stopped people like me, who used to open and close boards every two weeks, from opening a forum, requesting a package, closing it, and then a week or two later repeating the procedure. I like the new rules. Great job guys. Maybe now this will encourage some people to leave their boards open and stick with them.

Well, you got to admit, that is the truth. :shrugs:. This is actually my first forum that I've had open for more than a month, and I am truly proud of my accomplishments.

We sticking to Shadow's idea or is it still open for change, plus I have to agree with the PT team (not just because I'm staff here), as a member of the Review team myself I know the PT guys have it much worse then we do. Even when the review team have been overloaded in the past, it was nothing compared to what PT went through, I know cause we had to jump over there and help then out quite a bit sometimes.

But before we go biting anyone's head off here, lets look at both sides of the coin. With the 5000 posts required for 10 posts I can see some of you screaming murder, and in some ways it's to high as your only getting 10 posts. But to PT members a forum with 5000 posts on it shows us that your just not going to shut shop a week after we post on it for you. The reason we have some high post requirements on our packages is just for that reason, please note I'm not saying all of you starting on a new forum are going to quite. But we have seen it time and time again, new admin opens a new forum, and we put posts on it to help make it active, then 1/2 weeks later they shut shop and either start all over again or we never see them again. So with 1000 or 5000 posts on your site we know your at least dedicated to wanting to keep your forum open and try to make it active.

For those of you still not convinced try this, start your own post exchange in the forum cash exchange and mimic one of our package deals but don’t have the requirements on. After you post on there site and it closes in a week, then if your still in the mood to say it's unfair what we do I might consider taking your complaint seriously.

I will add 1 last thing, myself I recon 5000 posts is a little steep of a requirement I would personally make it 3500 to 4000.

first off I think the changes were need to be made as like others have said, it was offline more than online.

As someone who has a sort of posting service on my site, I know how hard it is to get the balance right, before everyone shoots the new packages down, why ont give them a chance first and then judge thme in a months time on how successful they have been based on the number requests, feedback and if the service is online more than offline.

I know I've posted here before but I'd just like to add something. 🙂

I think the post requirements and the forum age requirements are superb. It will hopefully stop users who open and close forums every week or two 🙂
