I was wondering what you thought of the new gTLD domains? Some people think they will nock .com .net and .org off their blocks. Personally I think .com domains will remain the kind and as time goes on they will begin to sell for millions of dollars (more so than now) and people will respect .com as above and beyond .love for example. They are coming out in April 23.

I'm going to guess 3/4 won't make it and fail horribly. The good ones will try to take a stand, but not all will make it. The really good ones will take a small holding and be enough of a success that they can profit from it and at least keep them on the market.
.com will never go down it has to much of a hold on the market.

As for coming out on April 23. That might be the first wave, but it will still be several years before all of them come out to the market.

.afamilycompany
That's going to be the most popular and easiest to remember. 😛

I'm guessing, though, that .google will make it. 😛
LOL Ya that's going to make it. 😛

People actually think those new gTLDs will be replacing dot com? People have been saying that with dot co and the odds are against it even now. The dot co might still have a chance in the next coming years since people deem it as shorter than dot com which is true to an extent, but you can't deny the fact that someone will eventually ask you "Hey, you forgot the m. You're welcome." and put you off as unprofessional until people gets exposed to the world of TLDs. This TLD is especially hard for offline advertising since consumer habits are hard to break.

However, it's refreshing to see huge services such as vine.co using dot co, but it's probably because dot com is already taken. For some people, dot co is a famous extension for squatting or an extension for short URLs. Google and Twitter are good examples with g.co and t.co respectively.

But as for the new gTLDs, that's an incredibly huge list. One of those MIGHT replace dot com one day (if ever) but having all of those as dot com replacement isn't likely. If anything, this will just serve as additional fees for big brands since usually they'd buy dot com, dot net, and dot org or even ccTLDs if they have business in a particular country. But those are apparently gTLDs.

Having dot youtube might be a nice addition for channels though. DeviantART, on the other hand, has been eyeing on dot art while dot blog could be successful since there might come a time when Google tweaks their algorithm specifically for that TLD. As for the rest, well I think I'll be getting a dot lotto domain with winning numbers. (e.g. twothreefivetenetc.lotto)

Oh and I see a dot xyz, are they being serious? It's hardly likely that many of those will even make it.

Out of that list, I can only see the following being half-decent:
  • .academy
  • .adult
  • .app
  • .bio
  • .blog
  • .host

Other than that, they all just look like random words. And really, .zip?

I agree, those domains listed in your post will probably make it. 🙂

Noooo! Haha, but yeah...all of the others are just weird, I can't see .basketball for example taking off.

.you seems like it could have some interesting possibilities. I think some of these are just way too long though, and would probably look a little awkward on the end of URL's.

i.see.you/pandaa, for example, could work.

A little creepy, but I like it. 😀

allabout.you could be a blog about health.
helpmehelp.you could be a community project.

I could go on!
