I joined this forum about 2 weeks ago but just thought I'd say hello and hopefully get some advice from this forum as I'm already registered with this forum (hope this is in the right section).
about me. i'm a global moderator for a forum. i saw an ad on the internet and so decided to apply. so i registered on the forum, expressed my interest in being a moderator and became one. in the advert, the job description was to help users/move posts etc. and yet i can't seem to move posts.
i'm never been a moderator before or an administrator so i'm new to all this permissions thing. i know how to lock posts, edit posts, delete posts and ban users which as far as i'm aware is all i can do. the forum is phpbb3 and i've googled how to move posts and apparently i only have standard access as the option to move posts is not available when i follow the instructions.
i thought about sending a PM to the admin but i don't want to appear pushy. i posted a message yesterday morning saying 'can admin make this thread a sticky?' as i can't seem to make threads a sticky either. we only have one administrator who has logged on since i wrote this so either he's ignoring my post (as it's still not a sticky) or just doesn't know what to think. because it may be that actually i can make threads a sticky, so admin read the message and thought ‘doesn’t the moderator realise and know what they can and can’t do’.
I’m afraid that if I send a PM to admin he’ll realise how inexperienced I am and maybe withdraw me from my role as global moderator. Which in my opinion would be highly unfair as I feel as though I’ve really helped the forum. The forum was launched in august last year and when I joined in December there were 5 members and about 10 posts so the forum was really dead. A month after I’ve joined we have just over 35 members (not that many I know) and nearly 200 posts of which approximately half the posts have come from me compared to the administrator who has only contributed about a fifth of the total posts. I’m also helping to promote the forum via Twitter and I helped to create the promotional video for the forum. So do I send a PM to admin and risk coming across as inexperienced and pushy or should I just keep quiet?
