I will not suggest you to go first one C2D are outdated by generations (though I also have C2D 🙁 ) you should go with i5 it will have better performance due to better achitecture and more GHZ.

My request don't go with old processor they will bottleneck for you with heavy apps.Also i5 processor will give you better battery life than C2D one.

Yeah, bare minimum stick with a 3rd gen intel processor.

Definitely this. Also, try to avoid HP and Dell. They were once able to put out some good products but their build quality has really decreased in the past few years.

That Asus you posted is pretty good, especially for the price-range. If you do some light gaming you'll want to stick with the Intel i5 because it will give you much more performance than the i3 or AMD equivalents.
