It's really sad that people here are giving the greeting Merry Christmas a different meaning. When a stranger greets you, it is more likely a way of asking you for something that is expected of you to give alms. In other words, when someone greets you Merry Christmas, you should give them something, money or anything in kind. It's really sad but it seems that it is already embedded in our culture.
