I have been doing some heavy Facebook advertising, and the advertising has definitely helped with my web traffic, I've had over 30 new member registrations in the past 3 days. However, I noticed that new members weren't doing anything other than registering. I turned off email verification to see if this would help with user interaction after registration, however, it doesn't appear as if it's made a difference because members are still registering and not interacting on the forums. I have started a new member contest to win $20 by creating an introduction topic. New members receive a PM welcoming them and informing them of the contest with a direct link to start an introduction thread, but still no success with interaction.

I need some pointers. How can I get new members to make a post or interact within the forums?

It seems as if what you're getting is just spam bots, or people seeing the forum and registering thinking they might come back and then forgetting. I personally wouldn't bother advertising on Facebook, it's not a great place for ads and forums I think.

what you need on your forum is spam defence system in place that will automatically remove fake and spam or any bots related and ban them. So that way you get legit members joining 🙂

I get so many bots joining and when I check my SCP I keep seeing ban after a ban on IPB LOL - Getting worse since COVID

I have this one on my site, stopped over 3500 of them in the last few months.

Thanks guys. I will check it out. Would fake spam accounts come from Facebook advertising? I have the code enabled that shows me every action taken by users coming from Facebook. It shows that they clicked register and created an account and all the emails look legit to me.

I tried Facebook once I coped abuse and someone saying my sites ‘poxy’ people are brainwashed thinking Facebook is superior to everything.

It's maddening right? Why would one go through the trouble of registering and even confirming their account only not to engage with anyone in the forum? Posting quality content regularly and responding to active members' daily posts is key to generating interest.

Most likely spam bots, but do you have engaging posts on your forum? Try making a topic like favorite pizza, who can refuse posting in that?

That’s a very good point. I love pizza and would post in that thread straight away.

Deep pan pepperoni for what it’s worth.

When I first started, I had advertised on Facebook & Mewe groups. I had several join up but never posted. Either they were just being polite, hoped I'd join their new social media group, or were just too intimidated going from how social media looks to the "busy" format of a forum.

Send them a message and start talking to them. Get to know them on PM. Keep talking to them, back and forth, back and forth.

And then ask them to post something. I bet they will once they're comfortable knowing you.

Try it. Report back 😀

I agree with you @Shawn, If you have people that don't post, it may be just a case of that person being shy or just seeing what your site is about before jumping in.🙂

Exactly, get in there and make them feel comfortable with posting. Maybe that's what they are looking for!
I have set up a personalized PM from me to all new members introducing myself and asking if they have any questions. One of my moderators even message them directly and I have posted on their profile welcoming them as well, but still no luck.

I wonder if they just forget they join? Can you tell if they're logging in or not?
Maybe send them an email asking them to come back 🙂

Well, I can tell what sites that I join. I join so many over the years that I forget or just not that I do forget about it, maybe I go to a site and not even realise that I'm a member already 😛

Sending Newsletters can be a good reminder option, but not everyone does subscribe to your emails.

If I had known how to make new members active, I would have ver 1000 members interacting on my forum. LOL. I will be watching this thread for tips.
